Excellent.

Last night was quiet. Me Timmy and Jonny headed down to the Frog & Parrot on Devonshire Street to watch a mate of mine from work do a gig there. He's a Scouser who does mainly acoustic and sings songs about West Street. A bit of a strange combination but he wasn't too bad. It was a shame though because no-one in the pub was paying any attention to him and the management had obviously intended him to be nothing more than backing music. Even his mates weren't totally paying attention and so after every song there was an awkward 2 second gap before one of them would notice and there would be this "spontaneous" applause and wooping.

Today I've tidied the flat and I am about to walk into town to buy a jumper/something warm because Sheffield is starting to get seriously cold, much more than home!

Tonight money's telling me not to go out (weekend prices aren't student friendly) so I'm going to the gym to get back into that because I had to stop so the hemorrhaging in my eye wouldn't get any worse. Also partly because I'm playing football on Sunday for Sheffield Parties which should be interesting, I've not played a competitive game for a team since I was about 15 or maybe even before though. I'll be a bit rusty but shouldn't be too bad, I'll tell them not to expect too much because I am known for crumbling under pressure in sport!
I finished my essay yesterday. Got everything I wanted to put in and finished on 2199 words. The upper limit is 2200 so I'm happy.

Got my new PIN sent through so I can finally buy food again. Dicko hungry no more! I was getting sick of having to gamble and eat stuff in the fridge which was up to a week out of date! Yuk!

Picked up my Arctic Monkeys tickets from the post office depot this morning. Its next Saturday night, Eagles of Death Metal supporting too, should be amazing. I dont really know any Eagles songs but to be honest I can't wait to see a big live show again for the first time since Beni

My essays going to plan. More today, day off tomorrow so I'll do some then, and then writing it up this weekend so its ready for Monday. Nice.

The Sunshine Underground posted the video for their new single, "Coming To Save You" last night and it looked top. Its been taken down now though? I love that band

I'm getting paid £50 tomorrow from Sheffield Parties for all the flyering and commission from the last week and a half.

Next week is reading week.

The Bad

Last night at about 5AM someone got shot outside the main gates of the forge (yes you read that right!). I got woken up by a text about 10 mins after it had happened from a girl at the other end and she said there was police everywhere. I went outside this morning on my way to uni and sure enough, all sealed off, and about 10 police cars all parked up, then when I came back from Uni it was all gone and back to normal which was a bit odd. I asked around a bit and no-one seemed to know what actually happened, whether the guy was a student or not or if he even survived. And now the front of the forge is back to normal apart from one police car so I'm guessing he must be OK? Strange times.

Cippo (ill) and Rick have both gone home so its just me and Angus in the flat. We're both doing this essay so i suppose its better for that but at the same time I am a bit bored!

Rick did my head in the other night calling me dry and actually getting mad because I've got more money than him but sometimes I just don't fancy going out. Was being dead confrontational over nothing. Did my head in. I think its because of my card situation and he had to lend me £25, and then maybe that went to his head? Also because I didn't watch United with him (why would I? I hate them, and while he says he watches city with me, united play 2-3 times a week so i'm not going to watch them every time.) Whatever.

Plug on Tuesday for Geoff''s birthday wasn't a particuarly good night. Bars were understaffed, the arena wasn't anywhere near being full either. The Dj, Dan Hills was well good mixing in loads of Dubstep and Drum n Bass with top 40 stuff which was class but at the end of the night I was smashed and just left thinking what was the point in that, £25 owed to Rick for what was a proper mediocre night. I think on Tuesdays I'll just stick to Crystal.

On Monday I invested in a new phone, or more specifically a Blackberry Curve 5230. Its a massive improvement on what I had before, I absolutely love it and the wi-fi hasn't even kicked in yet! Great little gadget. Its my first pay monthly deal. 200 minutes, Unlimited Texts, Unlimited Internet and Insurance covering damage, loss and theft all for £30.46 per month so its saving me loads. Very happy with it.

I handed in my Nationalism Essay Plan last Friday morning (the day I got battered in Leeds) and finally got it back last night. A solid 3/5 which I'm quite happy with. It was the first piece of work in any of my modules I've been asessed on and had go towards my end of year grade. I was a bit nervous when I handed it over, I was happy with the effort I put in but it was the first piece so I wasn't sure what standard to produce. The lecturer said 3/5 would be good, 4/5 would be exceptionally good. Everyone else I've spoke to got a 3 (2 people) or 2.5 (4 people) so I'm dead happy with how its gone. I've made a start at doing the essay with a load of books I've taken from the library. Going well

Monday night was Bradley from SClub Vs. Scott from 5ive Pop Battle at Embrace. I was selling, but only managed to shift 4. I sold 29 on the night but that included all of my Wednesday night allocation so I probably should have done better. No-one wanted them though so what can I do.. With all my flyering work on Sundays I'm getting paid £50 on Friday which is much needed. I got a new card but the pin didn't work so while they're sending one out I've had to not spend anything. I am running out of food!
Rick is lending me £25 tonight though because its Geoff's birthday so we're all going Plug..

Peace!

Still a little bit of blood on the eye itself but thats normal and I don't need to see a doctor unless its not gone within the next week.
This weekend has been good, which I really needed. Thursday night I was wrecked so I had a 14 hour sleep and felt so much better for it.
Friday day I headed out to Ecclesall Road with Rick, his brother and his brother's girlfriend to get our fancy dress for Halloween. I ended up deciding to go as a Pirate because there was loads of stuff for that but then after buying the hat I ran out of money.
Friday night some girls from home came up so I went for a drink with them at the Hubs, then headed back to Rosies. Things got very messy very quickly and I walked back with the lads from the flat upstairs.
Saturday the final pieces of the Halloween outfit came together. I walked into town with Johnny from upstairs and from Primark I bought a £2 White T-shirt. When we got back i drew an anchor on it then lended some fake blood and white facepaint from my flatmate Timmy Angus so I was now an undead pirate which was cool. Here's the finished thing!

We headed next door where all the Halloween Decorations were for a flat party which was good. See here.
From the flat we headed to SheffOne at the Hubs and had a wicked night, I thought it was really good. All the girls from home were out aswell. I had a top time. I headed back to Leadmill Point with them all then at about 5 walked back to the Forge. A very good time was had, all on £20 (£30 if you include the hat!) which was just what I needed.
Today I woke up a little late and headed out to the office for my 2nd time doing weekly Halls rounds. I wasn't as tired at the end as I was last week, and had an alright time going round all the Uni halls this time. Endcliffe Village is absolutely massive, Ranmoor is nice too but Tapton is absolutely hanging. Some of the Uni students were a bit arsey aswell when they saw what I was doing which I didn't really need, but whatever, another £20 for me. I'm glad I ended up at Hallam. After the work we all headed down to Spoons on West Street for a Sunday Roast which was a nice treat and very filling. Tonight I've tidied a little and watched Lock Stock and 2 Smoking Barrels which was absolutely wicked. Can't believe I've never seen that film before.
Random Things

City drew 0-0 with Birimingham, I missed it with work but Shay Given was outstanding aparrently. Its a point gained, although we've drawn too many recent games for my liking.

S-Club (Bradley) Vs. 5ive (Scott) Pop battle at Embrace tomorrow night. I'm selling for it, will be quite good I think. Hopefully will be able to shift a fair few as this has been the first weekend where there hasn't been a carnage or another crawl on the Sunday, and everyone's had enough time to recover from Halloween now.

I-pod Situation: I very much doubt I'll see my much loved one again after Leeds, but Timmy Angus has stepped up and given me his old Nano for the time being which I'm really appreciating. Really good lad. I saw a cheap shop selling them in town which I'll pay a visit to in January when i get my 2nd bit of student finance and I have my birthday.

Phone: I spent £80 on credit last month which is a bit of a joke so i'm investing in a Blackberry this week on a pay monthly contract which will be much better for me. I can't wait to BBM everyone! Hopefully will be good for selling tickets and staying in touch with whats going on aswell. Its free then £27.99 a month including insurance so is a good deal.

I'm picking up something from the post depot tomorrow. It could be a textbook, or Arctic Monkeys tickets The Suspense is killing me!

I cancelled my bank card after losing it on Monday and the new one should be delivered to the Lloyds in the center of town by tomorrow which will be a great help.

 Comments

Lucky Number Nothing

My luck hasn't changed. I set off for uni today and somehow lost my key fob on the way there. On the way back I took out some money and bought some food. Then when I went to the reception to get a new fob I didn't have my card in my wallet. I had to run back and lend £10 off my flatmate because I thought the card was just in my room. Turns out it wasn't, so I am now skint and cardless and with no way to pay back my flatmate. Maybe its a good thing his mates from home came and kidnapped him (literally drove up, bundled him in a car and took him back to Birmingham. He text us saying he'll be back next week, sounds like a lot of fun! )

I got loads of funny looks with the eye going in to Uni so I decided against going my lecture in the afternoon. Didn't feel like getting ogled at by everyone again. Seminars are going to be awkward tomorrow.
I've been feeling ill so have been in bed all day, meaning I sold 0 for Danny Dyer's PA at Embrace tonight. I wasn't expecting to sell many with the final Carnage being last night but 0 is pretty poor. Decided against going because of.. you guessed it, the eye. Instead I rang up and cancelled my card.

Will this get any better?!
Maybe its a good thing because I'll finally get some work done.
I can't wait for the eye to turn yellow.

Ok so the second time back to Leeds really wasn't that good. I never should have returned! ha
We went and met Emma at her flat at the Opal 2. Really nice tall buildings, they look like spaceships or something. From there we went to 02 Academy where there was a night on in the basement. Proper minimal house music, was really weird as it was dead empty and in this tiny basement. £10 in aswell (I got given a voucher for £5 which was pretty cool though).
Not really our scene so not the greatest time but was still OK.
We went back to Emma's and all her lad flatmates were there. We hadn't been out with them. I was in her room with her and then when I came out all of our mates had gone and so had the other lads. Aparrantly this guy we know from home but aren't really mates with had been causing trouble knocking and doors and winding the other group of lads up so everyone had left. I didn't know this had happened at the time though. When I came out Rick said they'd told him to leave even though we were staying there. I got annoyed when I heard this so reacted confronted them asking why and then they reacted badly too and it all escalated and I was on the receiving end of most of it from these 3 or 4 lads. Next thing we know all next door have come in and there are about 12 people all wanting to get at me and Rick. The girls are hysterical and I got locked in a room while Rick reasoned with them. I wasn't too happy about it at the time but was definitely a good idea for my safety (!). We left the flat and went to our mates upstairs then after about 40 mins we head back down and went to bed. I got a fair few whacks so my eye and jaw were swollen. Now the eye is really dark, I have lacerated eyelid and a slight haemmoraghe (sp?) in the eye but I'm ok. Its a lot darker than the photo because of the camera flash but it looks a lot worse than it feels. My jaw isn't in great shape though, and I struggled to chew food before but hopefully it should be better in a couple of days.
We left the next day without seeing the guys again. I don't really know what would have happened if we had, I'm not going to complain because it would cause massive problems for Emma living there but at the same time I want to be able to go up again. It wouldn't have happened if I hadn't confronted them but something had to be said and they may have overreacted a little. What I'm annoyed about most is my missing I-pod. I had to leave it behind without knowing if it was stolen or just lost which is pretty frustrating. All the other lads deny taking it but I don't really know to believe them because I didn't speak to them, but the flat is a mess so I'm hoping it will just turn up. We shall see.
Lost I-pod, face is fucked, eye is bad.. all in all a good trip..

Or what I remember anyway! I went shopping in the day with two lads I know from home who both work too, and we all got the same stuff. Black pants (cut at the knee), white long sleeved shirt, matching braces and matching school ties. Before we went to meet everyone else at the office we chilled at Pats and played a bit of rockband on the PS3. We were all wearing our matching clothes so it would have looked hilarious to anyone who walked in or looked through the window!
We met at the office and got to know a few of the other people there before the coach came. Free coach to Leeds was wicked, everyone nearly weed themselves towards the end though, its quite far! We got to Gatecrasher for about 12, skipped the queue and were led down to a side room and ushered straight in, entry already paid for! We got some drinks in and it was a really good time, but very messy. At one point drinking free champagne from the bottle, which is a first for me in a club! It was proper high living stuff. Gatecrasher is really good though, a bit small but the music was wicked, they were playing grime, electro, d'n'b, dubstep.. it was top. I went and met Porter (he's on the left in the photo) in another room as he is at Leeds Uni but only saw him for about 20 minutes because his mate got chucked out so he had to leave. Aparrantly Alphabeat were playing that night but I didn't even go in that room I don't think.
Free coach back, the journey was pretty tame as everyone was absolutely wrecked. I got home to The Forge at 5.30AM. I was meant to be in at uni for 9. As you can imagine, that didn't happen. Top night, especially because I only spent £20! Going was a wicked decision though, I met all the bosses properly, they all know who I am now and even the guy who owns it said he was impressed with my figures! I was the only Hall Rep there which is pretty good achievement considering how many of us there are, I got to meet all the other workers aswell. And I knew more people than I thought I would and have got a load of extra people on facebook since

---------------------------------------

I sold out my Embrace ticket allocation of 25 for that night aswell, even though I was on the social from 10 which is another good thing. They've put me selling the same next week, my number is getting passed round too so my numbers should keep going up! Selling for the Danny Dyer PA and gangster party on Monday next, but its the night after Carnage again so I don't really know how well I'll do! :S

Last night I went Plug because it was Thalia's birthday. Loads of girls were out, people were down from Leeds, Newcastle and Nottingham for it, then more people were up visiting so we must have known about 60people in there last night! It was just like being home again. All the people from Leeds are competing to have us stay at theirs which is pretty funny. A good problem!
My essay plan was handed in fine today, and later on we're getting the train to Leeds so I will get the chance to see Porter and everyone else again later.
Oh, and I got some Arctic Monkeys Tickets at the Sheffield Arena on 14th November. I don't know why they released any extras but I got 2 standing tickets for me and a mate so am on a massive buzz at the minute! Wooo! Only 3 weeks away. God I love that band!

Sold 43 tickets for Lemar on Monday night. He was good, I'd forgotten what a good song the above is, shame he didn't do "If There's Any Justice" though. Girls went crazy, some lads booed, thats life ha. He posed for photos at the end but to be honest I wasn't too bothered. I'll get one with Danny Dyer next week, well keen for that! My figures were very impressive though, the other girl at the Forge only sold 14 which made me feel kind of bad because she gave me a lift there and I made her look bad. So after selling 43 I got put on another night at Embrace, Boing Boing which is tonight and a pyjama party. Going well so far, sold about half of my 25 allocation which is alright considering I'm going Leeds at 9 tonight.. Embrace are starting to put pressure on the company though because they feel they could make more money with another night.. Its always rammed in there so I don't get it but whatever!

I've done all my lectures for the day. They were a complete waste of time but I'm definitely growing to like a lot of the people on my course. I'm starting to talk to them all a little bit more now aswell.
Just polished up my essay plan which is in tomorrow. Its 5% of the module so is our first proper piece of work, I'm quite pleased with how its gone so I hope I'll do OK!

Tonight its a staff social to Leeds so I doubt I'll be in Uni tomorrow :S. Its a compulsory school disco theme which should be a laugh. I only know 4 people who are going out of about 50 so it should be interesting. I only found out about it last night, I don't even know where we're going in Leeds!! Random nights are always the best though so I'm well up for it

Friday - Day off so I chilled to the max and then in the nighttimes headed to West Street. Me, Rick, Timmy & his gf and Helen and her mate all went to Players and it was a bit more expensive than normal (because it was a friday) so we weren't enjoying it as much as normal. We went to get money out to go to the next place but realised there was no point so headed back to the flat and watched anchorman. I fell asleep and everyone left me (apparently I was totally unresponsive to pokes, slaps and shouting) so I woke up cold and alone at 5am. Would have been a total waste of a night had we not met Helen's mate who is very nice and lives in some accomodation about 5 minute walk away. Its good to know people elsewhere in Sheffield.

Saturday - Mum and Dad came up to visit. I showed them around the city a bit, had a catch up and chill in the flat.. they met Rick's mum and dad aswell, then they toook me for a meal and food shop. Then as they were leaving they gave me some money and told me to buy a nice jumper. Very lucky boy . After that I met Dom and he gave me a shitload of flyers and posters to hand out and put up promoting the next night that I'm selling, which features a Lemar PA! We had a night in and some of the girls next door came round and we watched X-Factor , Saw, and Match of The Day.

Sunday - Big lie in and chill, then headed to The Scholar to watch City-Wigan. Not our greatest performance, shame about Zabaleta getting sent off but he can have no complaints really. That ruined any chance of us winning but its a point gained I suppose.. After that I went around putting flyers under people's doors and putting posters up (yes I am one of those hassling bastards! Thats the one part of the job I hate!) Watched X-factor again and was pleasantly surprised by Cheryl Cole. I think the size of that stage and the amount of dancers can make anyone look good singing. Should be me.

Monday - Already been in uni and had a spinning class at the gym which was good. Going to cook now and head back to uni in like an hour then should sell the rest of my tickets after that. I was originally given 50 and have sold about 12 so far which is wicked, this time last week I'd sold 0! I'll expect a load of phonecalls later on, its Lemar so the tickets are selling themselves, its too easy! Free night for me this evening!

Carnage was last Sunday, It was incredible, but in the last few days this picture has surfaced. Its disgusting and I'm not going to discredit myself by having it on my pages so click the link. The story is here.
This guy is a complete moron. Phil Laind, if you somehow find this page by googling yourself I really really hope I bump in to you somewhere, at uni or out, day or night, because you sir, are a waste of oxygen. I have never been so pissed off about a story in the paper in my life. How you have not been kicked out yet I don't know. You are scum. No excuse for it, of the tens of thousands of students yearly who do carnage, in fact, the thousands who did it that night you were the only one who went and pissed on a war memorial. What is wrong with you? You not do History at school? You not have any grandparents? Prick. I guess thats what happens when you give a public school boy his first beers in quick succession. I'm not annoyed at you getting pissed, it was a bar crawl, everyone, including myself was. But this is just stupid. What were you thinking? You had enough sense to know what you were doing at the time because you admitted your name to whoever took the photo.
I spoke to my mum on the phone that night before and told her I was going on Carnage. She will have read the paper and thought, Daniel was on that. She'll probably kick off when I tell her tomorrow I'm getting a T-shirt for the next one (which I assume I won't be seeing you on?). Cheers. You're a twat.

I searched you on facebook today, seen your profile and stuff before you made it private. You looked like you were a prick before this even happened on all your travelling photos and general profile information, typical Kings Macc rich boy. What made me even more pissed off was your mates writing on your wall calling you a "legend" "funniest thing ever" and congratulating you for being on Radio 1. That made me even more fucked off, typical private school brats thinking their the dogs bullocks and completely immune and above anything. I hope you're put on sex offenders, community service, explain yourself to people at a barracks, made to walk down West Street with a sign saying what you did, prison, anything and everything. If I didn't already have lectures etc. I'd be coming to see how it goes down at magistrate's on 22nd.
LEAVE UNI because you will forever be that guy.

Anyone reading this I am genuinely sorry on behalf of this prick.. Hallam is a good uni, we are not all like him.

Friday - Went to the Hallam Union with lads I know from home and a couple of new people we've met at uni. We got there and it was a bit weird, the music was a bit quiet etc. but because it was a new night it was free entry and so absolutely everyone proceeded to get completely sloshed and rock out to possibly the cheesiest music ever. Not a good place for meeting girls, but it was good nontheless although not as busy as i thought it would be. Emo's, geeks, blacks and asians all completely wasted going mental to cheesy music would have made a beautiful picture.

Saturday - Was meant to be our night off but Emma (the girl I was seeing back home before we both went to Uni) and her mate decided to randomly come down from Leeds in the day so we went out with them. We were in Players (new bar on West Street. really good) and then me and her came back to the flat instead of going Embrace. Good Decision. I've missed her more than I thought and am going up to Leeds next Friday now . I'm not being a dick with girls btw. My earlier problem sorted itself out. I don't want anything to happen with Helen because I like her more as a mate and if anything did happen she lives next door so it would get too complicated. I missed my chance with Corine because I messed her around and spent some time with Helen when we were out and I should have been with Corine because she was having a shit few days with some personal stuff and needed a mate. The next night she got with Nathan, a good new mate from Norwich who is in the flat above us. I like him so its cool, but now they're like going out so circumstance sorted me out quite nicely and I didn't have to choose afterall.

Sunday - In the day I met a guy from Sheffield Parties and got myself a booklet of tickets to sell for Embrace on the Monday night. They are the biggest promotion company in Sheffield so being their hall rep is a good position to have especially as a fresher. And because I know 3rd Years from school who are now very high up in the company it will lead on to bigger and better things so I'm very happy. Serious money to be made In the night time.. Carnage Bar Crawl. Did exactly what it said on the T-shirt and was absolutely mental. 4 good mates from home came up and stayed with us especially for the night and it was amazing, really good to see them all. Reminiscent of old times. Best night I've had in Sheffield after my epic first night on my own in Plug. I spent too much though.

Monday - Awful hangover but still made it into Uni which was good. By about 7pm despite having a massive sign in the window saying I was selling tickets there was absolutely no demand for Embrace that night at the forge. I was seriously considering just buying all the tickets myself and telling the guy I'd sold out but then it all happened in like an hour. Sold 4 up at Bramhall Court to a guy on my course. Then on facebook a girl from back home down at Leadmill Point had people visiting she needed to take out so that took me up to 15.. the guy from my course rang to get another 3, then I got a phonecall from a randomer who had seen my number on facebook and he bought my last 5! I'd completely sold out in like an hour of walking around, while the other Forge Hall Rep (she'd sold 120 Carnage TShirts) had only sold 12! I got a massive buzz from it so decided I would go with my mate Elliot who was up visiting. We were out with all his brothers mates who are 3rd years and all needed tickets. If I'd have had them I could have sold 50 in the night, not even joking. I had none left so got all of mine from the guy who we know and is high up in the company and all headed to Embrace. I make 50p commission so only about £12 for selling out but selling out in my first week is wicked, and I also get a free night out so its well worth doing. Hopefully in a couple of weeks I'll be making some serious cash.
It was a silent school disco so we got there and there was no music, but people with headphones were all singing. It was really weird because there was two channels so people were singing different songs over eachother. There was a massive crush to get the headphones so we left it for a bit and I'll admit I was pretty sure it was going to be an awful night. Once we got the headphones on though it was absolutely amazing and I would definitely go to a silent disco again. Great fun. Great night with Ell too. And no hangover because we bought some chicken on the way home. Very happy.

These last few days have been like freshers all over again, I won't be out again this week and need it to calm down so i can get some work done and get back into the gym!! Lectures and Seminars all going well

Since I've come to Sheffield I've been forced to start using Spotify. Not that thats a bad thing at all, its working very well so far. I've had it on my laptop since early days because I liked the concept, but never really used it because if I wanted music I could easily download it and have it on my I-pod too. Now that downloading isn't possible Spotify has become my new best friend. In the last few days I've been listening to Bunny Wailer, Example, Jay-Z's and The Crib's new albums, and Boys Noize as I missed them the other night. But by far my favourite spotify discovery has to be Miike Snow.

When I tell you they're a Swedish band you may immediately think to "Peter, Bjorn & John" who are good, don't get me wrong, but Miike Snow are simply a level above. They sound more diverse, slightly more electronic, and much more relaxed thanks to vocals and chilling beats. I love them already after only a day of listening to their album on repeat while I do uni work. They are everything Deepest Blue should have been, but with a special Scandinavian twist which has given them a certain edge. Listening to them now its impossible not to vibe to, my feet are tapping, my head is nodding.. its great. Also for any fellow students (still feels wrong calling myself a student!) reading this, Its very good background music to escape from the mundane silence or upstairs's bassline/movement that may come with work. Their best known song so far is "Animal" which has a great Fake Blood Remix which I randomly already had on my I-pod. I need more Fake Blood stuff, I can't believe I only have two songs!
They're playing Warehouse Project as part of the Eat Your Own Ears night with Jack Penate, Maps, Paul Epworth and Rob Da Bank in a few weeks which would be good to get to (and probably be a good night sober!) had I not just made my pledge to not go back to Manchester for a while.
Oh well. Miike Snow's self-titled debut album (released this year) is out now and I would very highly reccomend it, even if you're just going to do what I do and look on Spotify.

PS: Just found out they wrote "Toxic" by Britney Spears. Now I like them even more! Individually the three of them have also produced albums by Daniel Merriweather, Vampire Weekend, and they share a label with Major Lazer who I am already a fan of.

Photo of me & Rosie from the Skins Uni Vs. Hallam Crawl. Yes I am wearing some Nike Pro's over a pair of pink neon tights. Very classy. The funny thing is I didn't stand out a bit, everyone was wearing it so we blended in! Of all the tickboxes I got 4 ticked (snog a rival uni girl, win armwrestle, steal a tutu and make it to a takeaway) but I didn't see any Skins people along the way.. It was meant to be Emily & Thomas but I do wonder if it was all just a con..
Lectures are slowly and surely getting better as we start to get more into the work. For one module we're doing a group task making a newspaper style piece on International Economy or more specificually for me, Economic Groups & Organisations. I also learnt quantative and qualitive research are two very different things.. They are flying by.
Got a haircut today at some place on Ecclesall Road just near uni.. the same place that Chris McClure and Ched Evans go to! Pretty cool!
Tonight, Sheff Utd Vs. Ipswich is on but just found out its sold out. Our tickets were only £5 for students.. maybe next time.

I had to collect Warehouse Project money then drop it off with Lee. I went home, had a shower and then set out in my car to do the rounds. I collected just less than £200 and headed into town on the tram. It was the opening night though and was looking like a big one so I'll give him a bit of slack. I met him, handed over the money and stuff so I've done my bit but now to be honest I want out. Its so not worth the effort of coming back from Sheffield, the train alone eats into all the money I make and trekking it round to see everyone in the traffic was so stressful. I did what I said I'd do and everyone is heading to the Swedish House Mafia night tonight which I'm really jealous for. Everyone is under instruction to report back in the morning. Oh well, I'm going to Simian Mobile Disco next week so I'm buzzing for that because I love SMD and Delphic are playing! In Manchester again!!
I headed home after I'd met Lee and went straight to bed absolutely knackered. Freshers has nearly killed me! haha Got a lift back today, we finally have a working toaster in the flat. Another night in because Saturdays here are sooo expensive, and we have a Hallam Vs. Uni Bar Crawl on Sunday night anyway so I'm saving myself for that.
Still loving it here, everyone is top and I've started applying for jobs and stuff.

I am having a top time. So many new people.. all the going out.. I don't even mind going to the lectures. There's something quite satisfying about them!
On Monday night we went to Embrace, Laura White from Xfactor was on, Gracious K, and Blazin Squad. They let in 1000 people too many (£40k fine!) and it was mental. Sweat dripping from the ceiling! Not good. All this week all the places get rammed and then too hot which is a shame.
Last night went on a crawl on West Street with all new people from our accomodation. Everyone loves us, next door.. above.. even the other blocks down the other end!. I'm having the best time.
Everywhere is slowly slotting into place in terms of local knowledge so we're getting A-B much quicker. The going out is mental.. the nights get crazy. It won't stay like this forever! I never realised how many people I know here.. I'm always stopping and talking to people from home, its great. There are 18 people on my course, we're having a wine social later on with the professors. I turned up late for the first thing which was pretty important because I lost my induction sheet with all my details on.. I need to redeem myself to McDermott, the lecturer. Seems like a top guy but he said we won't have him much. Oh Well.
I've got my own student card, I've signed up to the cycling society so I need to get my bike up here.. I'm signing up to Sport Hallam (the gym) later on too.
We're having a flat party at ours tonight with the flat upstairs. We both look out onto the courtyard so we'll have a 2 storey extravaganza there. Get the music going, passing drinks out.. then we'll head to town from there. In short, its mental here, I love it. Its totally non-stop, I am struggling to make time for this and ringing home!
I need to tidy my room and the flat!!

About 10 minutes after my post last night I got talking to a girl I know from Zante who is at Sheffield Hallam. I don't know anyone so I tagged with her and her mates and we went to Plug. It took us a while to get there because we went via the Union and train station looking for a cash machine but we eventually made it. Had a wicked night, £2 large cheeky vimtos? Thankyou very much!
I spent about £15, found a £5 note on the floor, and everything is within walking distance so no taxis which I like!

More people have moved in to The Forge today, one girl in the flat next door who I've said hello to. Its going to be mental tomorrow when everyone else comes. Tonight I don't really know what to do, I can either try and find somewhere to watch Peep Show which I absolutely love.. or can head down to Bramall Lane to try and tout a ticket for the Sheff Derby. I bet its totally sold out but definitely worth a try!

Its wicked. At first I wasn't sure and thought it looked a bit plain but that was only because it didn't have any of my stuff in.. now its wicked! Really happy with the flat and my room, just a shame its empty apart from me. Rick & Alex come down on Saturday which isn't too far away but I've not spoke to anyone else properly yet.. my mum took her time about leaving so before I knew it it was dark and everyone was back in their rooms. Opportunity missed. Oh well. I'm doing OK, I've cooked, cleaned and done some laundry.
A bit gutted to be spending my first night on my own and on facebook (??!!) but whatever, I'll watch a DVD in a bit and get a good night sleep.

Location-wise its great. I'm on the ground floor looking out over the communal grass bit. Its easy to get to from my house and easy to find even though I don't know Sheffield especially well. Its right near Bramall Lane (Sheffield United FC) which is going to get busy tomorrow with the Sheffield Derby. AND its got a poem by Jarvis Cocker mounted on the wall which is really cool.
I haven't had much of a chance to explore yet but hopefully will when I head to the Post Office to get some of the post I've missed.
Pictures coming soon when I find my camera cable, although I have a feeling I've left it at home. For now have this :

It was a girl's birthday and the last night out in Manchester for a lot of people including myself. It was good but turned a bit sour at the end. I'd gotten a lift home (my first time ever in a SmartCar!!) but got a phonecall saying something had happened.
Everyone had been walking to a Taxi when out of nowhere this scrote came and attacked them. He was shouting "I rule Manchester!!" and "remember Salford!!" so we think he may have been on something. A random guy had gone up and asked if he had a cig and this scrote rearranged his face for him. Blood everywhere apparently, very bad. Next he turned on Keavo (pictured with me on my last post) and cracked him in the face. Keav is a big lad but he was straight to the floor, his mouth is fucked and he had to go to Hospital that night and get 16 stitches!! Next the guy turned to Oli who was with Keav and cracked him one, knocking him out cold. Rick, Pat, Clarke and Kerry walk around the corner and see the other two on the floor, blood everywhere. Oli aparrently didn't even know what day it was. The guy hits Clarke, breaking his nose. Yet more blood to contribute to the communal pool. Pat got a whack aswell so now his face is swollen.
He tried to go for Rick aswell but kind of missed and half-caught him on the chin so Rick wasn't too bad, but somewhere in the chaos Kerry got a whack aswell. No excuse for that, hitting girls is totally out of order and she was knocked to the floor. Originally I got the impression she made a meal out of it from the first person I've spoke to but I've spoke to others now and it does sound bad and she is understandably very shook up from it.
Anyway, Clarke and Keavo went to hospital in an ambulance, its a police matter now and they seem to think they caught the guy. Edit: The wrong guy, most likely no-one will ever get done for what has happened to my friends. Outraged.
I must have been the only person not to get whacked last night! Very lucky I got the lift but at the same time wish I could have been there to help my friends out.

I drove into Manchester and met Jenny at Eastlands for City - Arsenal. I was meant to be going with my dad but seconds after he'd booked it he'd realised he was away with mates for the weekend, so I got to take a mate. Jenny's had a bit of a tough time with her parents, results and splitting from her boyfriend recently so I took her and she loved me for it.

Record crowd at Eastlands,a BRILLIANT game of football, a BRILLIANT performance by the boys in blue. Bellamy played out of his skin, Bridge was outstanding, Toure led superbly, Adebayor was incredible (again!). I feel sorry for Arsene Wenger because in my eyes he's the best manager in the League but nothing seems to be going right for him in recent games, we played excellent but the scoreline did flatter us. Arsenal really dominated at times and could/should have had more goals. They made far too many defensive mistakes though so didn't really deserve even a point at the end, although Van Persie's goal was sublime.

Onto the controversial topic of the day. Emmanuel Adebayor. I didn't see the alleged kick on Van Persie so can't really comment, but THAT celebration has ruffled a few feathers aswell. At the time I loved him for it, everyone in the ground loved him for it, as shown by the roar when Clattenburg got his card out. The Arsenal fans have given him so much abuse for the move to us, even when he was their player they were on his back so if I had been in his shoes, with all those emotions, I would have done the exact same and ran those 90 yards to celebrate in front of them. That doesn't mean I agree with it though. At the time I loved him for doing it, it shows he cares which I like to see from all players in my team. Its giving some back, which footballers should get to do with the amount of abuse us fans can give them. BUT at the same time he caused a big problem for the stewards which is pretty unforgiveable in my eyes. It looks like I might be stewarding at Sheffield Wednesday next year (more on that in a future post) and I would hate any player who incited the crowd in such a way as it is just making my life difficult. It was brilliant to see the looks of sheer hate at his direction from the Arsenal fans because we love him to bits and he loves us back, but it did take the gloss off what was an excellent, highly entertaining game of football and an excellent win for us.
The manner of the victory over a good Arsenal side, especially while we are without players like Tevez and Robinho sends out a real message to everyone else regardless of whether Arshavin is on the pitch or not. Looking at the league table now, our 100% start fills me with pride and I cannot wait for the Derby next week, which I'll be watching with my United mates in Sheffield

After the game I dropped Jenny off and went round to Ricks. The traffic was a nightmare but I got there eventually. We headed into Manchester, again getting there eventually after being diverted for Coldplay & Jay-Z @ Old Trafford Cricket Ground and went to 42s. It was one girl's last night before she goes Birmingham, and our last Saturday night in Manchester. It was good, but its always a bit samey in there.

Pat (black dickey bow) & Rick (grey tie) are two of my closest friends, and the other two lads in the photo above. I have always been good mates with them, but then I think the three of us became extra tight in Zante when we were in a room with eachother for the full 2 weeks. We all just chill and have a laugh.. a pretty light hearted approach to everything. We all thought we'd be going our seperate ways now, Pat is has a construction job and is doing a part time course at Salford Uni (can't remember what) which he's had sorted for a while now. I was meant to be doing History at Sheffield Uni and Rick was between Nottingham Trent this year or deferring and going Sheffield Hallam, but then circumstances changed with my results and Rick spoke to his unis and now we've both ended up heading to Sheffield Hallam. Once we'd realised this we were both struggling to find accomodation, and when Rick found some I was en route to the Lake District so after speaking to him we agreed it'd be easiest for him to book mine aswell so now we're both in the same flat at the Forge next year which I'm really looking forward to now! Pat doesn't work weekends so he said any spare time he gets between work and course he'll be coming down to ours so next year should be really good and the boys shall continue on!! We were all discussing the possibility of working as reps together somewhere next summer too briefly last night so our beautiful three way bromance will blossom on!!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Last night me and Pat headed to Rick's. Its only him, his brother and his brother's girlfriend there at the minute because his mum and dad have gone out to their apartment in Ayia Napa for a bit. We flicked between all the football with a few beers then headed to the pub to meet up with all the other boys and Emma & Laura. Laura was moving to Liverpool for Uni the next day (today) so we were all saying our goodbyes and stuff, then us boys headed to Birdcage. It was only a few of us (Me, Pat, Rick, Clarke, Keavo and Oli) but we still had a good night. We got there a bit late so couldn't sort out tickets, we had to queue up for about 45 minutes which was a nightmare and then we nearly didn't get in so had to convince the guy we were all going Uni next week as they weren't accepting our college cards. We were telling the truth and but it was still hard to convince the bouncer who was pretty stubborn, but eventually Pat blagged us in.

A good night, but then all turned a bit sour at the end and we all got chucked out which was quite funny. Oli had been dancing with this girl, and this guy who sells tickets for birdcage and used to go our school was being a dick and gripped him up for it? I stepped in to split them up and we did alright then this bouncer came and chucked me and Olly out. I couldn't believe it, I'd done nothing wrong! Led us out by the arm which is a first for me, It was right at the end so I wasn't too bothered but still didn't need the stares that came with it!!
Me and Olly waited outside for all of about 5 minutes before the bouncers escorted the rest of our group out in the same way. The guy who had started with Olly had then started on them so the bouncers came back in and again got the wrong people! Oh well!

Later on while the club was closed and people were standing outside the tool of a guy got in a scrap with some other guy. They were both shouting at eachother and it was about to go off when the police came and took one of them away. He resisted, so 5 of them sat on him and bundled him into a van.. but again it was the wrong guy. The tool who had started on us twice and then this other guy walked off round the corner and that was that for the night. Some times there is no justice!!

Liverpool fan Michael Shields has been pardoned by Justice Secretary Jack Straw after being detained for four years over an attack in Bulgaria.
The 22-year-old, from Liverpool, will be released after he was convicted of the attempted murder of a barman.
He was found guilty in 2005 after his team's win in that year's Champions League final.
Mr Straw pardoned him after deciding he was "morally and technically innocent". Mr Shields was said to be "ecstatic".
Mr Shields' parents, Michael Snr and Maria, have campaigned for his release since he was convicted.
In a statement, Mr Straw said that during the last meeting with the Shields family on 28 August he was told about a visit by two members of the Shields family to the home of another man alleged to be responsible for the crime.
At first he couldn't believe it after all these years and knock-backs
John Wheate,Michael Shields' solicitor said: "I was told that in the course of the visit that man made an oral confession to the crime in front of several other people.
"When looked at alongside all the previously available evidence, (it) has now satisfied me that Mr Shields meets the high test set by the court."
Mr Straw added that he believed Mr Shields to be "morally and technically innocent".
Mr Shields has been held in Thorn Cross young offenders institution in Warrington after serving the initial part of his sentence in Bulgaria.
The 22-year-old's solicitor, John Wheate, said the jailed fan was "absolutely ecstatic" when he was given the news earlier.

This should have happened a long time ago, he will never get those 4 years back. I am including this on my blog because I had no idea he was being held at Thorn Cross, it is literally a 5 minute drive from my house. I rode past it yesterday during the family bike ride for the first time in months so its kind of coincidental he's been freed today! But yes, I am happy for him and its about time. I feel bad that he's been so close to my house for so long and I had no idea!

------------------------------------------------

Yesterday was very busy. I had an early start and me and my mum headed in to Manchester to get some bits for uni (mainly clothes). I'm very lucky, mum spent a LOT of money on me yesterday! I got a jacket, shirt, some jeans, a cardigan, a bag, the City Away kit and an amazing pair of trainers. Lucky lucky boy. Very Happy.
While we were in Manchester I gave Lee a call about The Warehouse Tickets to see what was going on and ended up going to meet him for a bit in Northern Quarter. There has been a massive fuck up due to his new laptop making things hard, and now Swedish House Mafia and Simian Mobile Disco's nights have sold out. Luckily though he acknowledged the mistake and my reserved tickets are guarenteed and being sent out to me by recorded delivery today. Thats the good news, but my Faithless tickets aren't looking as hopeful. I explained the situation and he said he'd try and sort me guestlist for me and the people I'd reserved for but I'm not sure if he'll follow it through so am a little bit worried. I will look a right dick if I let people down with these.. but at the same time by not going Faithless I could go and see Arctic Monkeys in Sheffield that night which would be incredible so I'm OK. Its for my friends mainly.
After meeting Lee we headed home for a little while, then were straight back to Manchester. We had an Italian meal at Gio's near G-Mex which was nice, I had "Risotto Pescatora" (seafood risotto) which was really nice. We then walked down to the Bridgewater Hall because it was my sister's speech night. I was going because I go Uni next week and she was playing the drums. She was good but seeing that didn't prepare me for how long and boring the whole thing was. She goes a girls only school so there was loads of girls but it was sooo dry. I got bored so started texting the girls I knew who were there saying "I can see you but you can't see me. Teehehehehehe." which went down pretty well. Kept me entertained at least. I really freaked one girl out by texting "Nice Black dress!", I could see her laughing when she read it and showing people haha. Afterwards all the girls headed to the locks but I didn't fancy being the only lad and had nowhere to stay so I came home. (regretted it as soon as I got in the car!!)
I went to bed and got woken up at about 3 by Emma calling me. She'd gone Chinese Karaoke after her farewell meal to people who were leaving. She was drunk and emotional then started giving me all this shit about not caring and stuff?! I was knackered and knew she didn't mean it and in the end after hanging up several times and some raised voices had to switch my phone off to get back to sleep which is a first. She text me this morning all embaressed at the stuff she was saying ("Fuck off to Sheffield!!") haha. I knew she didn't mean it at the time but she said she was sorry anyways and that she'd make it up to me which I like. Apology was definitely needed, the things she said were very hurtful and upsetting!!

A Coronation Street actress has found a body in the back of a van in Greater Manchester.
Samia Smith, who plays Maria Connor in the soap, called police after seeing a 26-year-old dead man in a parked Vauxhall Combi in Sale on Sunday.
Greater Manchester Police said they are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death.
A spokeswoman for Coronation Street confirmed Ms Smith made the discovery, but said it was "a police matter".
It is believed a barking dog alerted Mrs Smith, who is heavily pregnant, and her husband Matthew to the van.
The van was parked at the junction of Hunston Road and Washway Road.
A Greater Manchester Police spokeswoman said: "Inquiries to establish the circumstances surrounding the man's death are under way.
"His family are in the process of being informed.

I drove past this on Sunday on my way home and wondered what was going on. The road was sealed off with Blue police tape and there were about 5 police jeeps all parked around this red Vauxhall just near the corner of Washway Road and loads of personell around. Very sad indeed, I will be very interested to hear whats gone on. 26 is too young to die.
Must have been pretty traumatic for Samia Smith in her condition to find that outside her house too.. !

Last night we had our firsts 19ths.

One girl had hired out a room in Tiger Tiger. I hardly knew her and have never really spoke to her apart from when she invited me and then when she cornered me on nights out to make sure I was going. Anyway she'd done this to a lot of people and had given out these fancy invites so everyone kinda felt obligated to go. We got there and it was pretty dead and extremely expensive because it was a Saturday night. I must have been in there for about 5 minutes. I literally walked in, scouted it out.. saw it wasn't quite happening, said some hellos, talked for a bit and walked out. I didn't even buy a drink (£6 dbl vodka red bull, £3.50 beer bottle) but at least I showed my face. I got in a few photos so she'll see I was there and then got off. I don't really know her so I don't feel too bad about it, at least I showed my face!

From there we headed back towards the locks because it was another girl's birthday. We made friends with these girls in Zante and have been chilling with them loads since. They're agood laugh. Anyway we met them at the locks and headed from there onto Manchester's famous Canal Street and AXM for Sextoy ("Manchester's biggest afterparty") Was a good night, really funny. After the initial awkwardness everyone seemed to really get into the swing of things and really enjoy it. I've been before (months ago with some French people I met out) so knew what to expect but it took a few people a while to adjust. The gays certainly know how to party anyway, it was a top night. They're shameless though! One kept coming up to me and pinching my ass and running his fingers through my hair when I was with Emma.. I had no clue what to do so just ended up taking it in jest LOL. Was very awkward for a moment. Another highlight included a transvestite chasing Rick through a car park hitting him with his/her handbag. One of the funniest things I've ever seen.
But yes, very friendly atmosphere. I recognized one of the barmen as he used to go our school. Said alright to him.. he had no clue who I was until I mentioned Ambrose then he was very pally haha. Spoke to another barwoman at the locks aswell because she had a Benicassim band on too.. had a nice little chat haha.

Me, Clarke & Masterson @ Canal Street

Today I've been on a family bike ride and spoke further with one of my future flatmates (the one I was a bit skeptical about) and he actually really seems alright! Cannot wait to go. Spoke with a mates brother this morning who is already in Sheffield and he is working in a club next year and said he'd sort me out if I needed anything and gave me his number which is good. He was also telling me about a company which is really non-commital and give work like football stewarding etc. so I'll see where that goes.
Peace!

Studentfinance = Retards.
I've sent the change of circumstance form twice saying I'm not going Sheffield Uni anymore, and am heading to Hallam instead.. Today I get a letter saying my finance has been finalised and accepted (first maintenance payment in 10 days ), and that my tuition fees have also been accepted and that they will be paid to Sheffield Uni for my history course. Perfectly fine except I'm not going there am I. With no working phone number and just that PO Box on the website I've done all I can in sending the form twice and am just going to leave it. They'll get through their pile and find my form eventually and realise the mistake and rectify it. I've chased it up and have had enough with them.

People came round last night and I dropped them all off this morning. We watched Twilight (surprisingly OK) and Stepbrothers. Up late with someone so my body clock is a mess today.. glad I didn't have to go work today like she did! haha!

Sophie won Big Brother.. she seems like a nice girl but can't say I care. Glad its over though, back to normal TV schedules!

Bit by bit everything is coming together for me.
After not hearing from StudentFinance and nothing changing on my online account in nearly a month I presumed they didn't receive my guarentee or change of circumstances form. Those two forms are both pretty vital because without them my loans won't come through which would be an absolute nightmare. StudentFinance are impossible to deal with, if you call you get an automated voice telling you to go to the website, and once on the website there are no details apart from a PO Box adress?!?! I'm meant to be moving out in like 11 days so yesterday I took some action, printed the forms again, filled them out and sent them off for the 2nd time. Hopefully something should happen now.

My accomodation is all sorted and my room guarenteed as I've paid the deposit. I'm on the Groundfloor of Block C of the Forge, costing me approximately £92 per week (all bills included). I'm told thats quite expensive, but thats understandable because accomodation costs in Sheffield are quite high while Living Costs are quite low or so I'm told. I can't wait to move in. Looking on the wesite I can see one of the other rooms has been filled, with another lad to join me and Rick. Was hoping for some girls but I suppose another guy won't be too bad at all for banter and splitting lad costs (Eg. FIFA), I hope he's not an odd one though. Its a shame now because I doubt any girl is going to want to come in and live with 3 lads now so I guess halls next year are going to be a bit of a sausage fest! Oh well, I know enough girls who are going and loads are saying they'll come to visit!

American Express have agreed to refund my Travellers Cheques in full which is really good. They've been really good and professional about it, its been quite an easy process. I've just got off the phone with them and I should get a much needed payment of £190 into my shiny new student account (which I got from Lloyds TS in the next 5-7 days. I wish my travel insurance were being as good as American Express have been. I thought that was all sorted too but they want more documents detailing how I survived financially and a letter from my bank confirming lost cards.. its all been a bit of a nightmare.

I've got orders for 20 Warehouse tickets so far. Thats an easy £20 for me and hopefully some guestlist privelidges. I think that Lee (who sorts me the tickets) is quite surprised and pleased, I didn't think I'd sell this many and this is only for a few dates. I've got more people letting me know this week, and then on top of that Lee is giving me all the tickets I need for the dates he didn't put me on. I was only on the first six but a lot of people are asking for others like Cocoon and Faithless (! Just announced, I'm going. Massive Coup for Warehouse!) and I thought Lee might be a bit funny about it because I wasn't meant to be selling those dates but he's got no problem with it, called it "great" and said he'd get them to me this weekend. Thats going well, which is good for when I go Sheffield in terms of more work! I'm missing out on Swedish House Maffia (gutted) because of my Freshers week, but I've got my Simian Mobile Disco and Faithless tickets sorted, and should be getting some others when I know who's going what. I'm going to try for Deadmau5 guestlist even though its sold out, its cheeky but if you don't ask you don't get! haha

I've started working my way through a "What to take to Uni list" and putting it all to one side which is quite exciting! (well not really but I'm getting a buzz off it!)

I'm pretty severely skint at the minute but have a free house so Emma and a few other people are coming round. I've not seen her properly in like over a week because I've been away or had birthday nights of people she doesn't really know so it'll be good to see her. Was meant to be out last night but I have no money and Maplins wouldn't refund me my £50 laptop charger because it had been opened so I couldn't go out. I think her and our friend Glen were quite disappointed!
