When I wrote this it was 10.30.. The first batch of results are back and Labour has lost 9%.
Personally, I don't agree with any European Parliament. I don't think a shared assembly across so many cultures is healthy, and there is no real representation due to the vast constituencies and sheer number of votes. I also don't agree with any European Parliament having legislative priority over anything decided by our elective MPs in Parliament.
I just don't think a nation like ourselves, with our history, our own currency, and our own distinct electoral system and traditions, should be part of such an assembly. Especially when what we get out of any such arrangement is much less than we put in in terms of funding and resources.
Thats why I chose not to vote in the European Elections on Thursday.
Labours taking a real battering which doesn't surprise me too much (looks like it could be the end for Brown-Bear), but what is making me perhaps regret my decision is the BNP's UK MEP vote share rising by 2.5% so far. Its not enough to make any difference, they're no closer to getting an MEP (So far) but still stuff like this worries me. They might win a seat in Yorkshire I'm reading (they did), and they're sure to be voted in in at least one of the more backward areas of our nation. This does my head in.
I have voted apathy in all the local or European elections I've been eligible for so far but I'm starting to think this should change. At the end of the day any vote I make is another one against the BNP right?
I'm glad to see Manchester is generally seeing sense and absolutely abusing Nick Griffin in town tonight. I've seen this first hand when he was egged leaving his hotel in Altrincham a couple of years ago when he was in town and it was thoroughly enjoyable. I can't stand that fat mess.

Tonight was the final of the Apprentice. I haven't watched or followed any of it apart from the opening episode because I found them all pretty dull bunch this time round to be honest, but my two favourites from that episode (based pretty much all on looks) ended up in the final with Yasmina eventually coming out on top. Congratulations to her. I am genuinely thrilled for her.. ![]()
Tomorrow I have a History exam. Like the philosophy one on Friday, I'd count this as a big'un. I've been working for it today and yesterday but its not been enough time. I'm not feeling too confident to be honest, I was much better prepared for Philosophy. I wrote about how badly that one went but looking back now I think that was just the stress-induced exhaustion talking and I actually am thinking now (after a loook through my notes) that it actually went very well.
In 12 days all of these exams will be over and I can chiiiiilllllll. I need that.
