I've got a mate called Dec. He's one of my closest friends, he's different from everyone else I know, and doesn't really come out with us but he's still one of my bestest buds. This is us in school a couple of years ago.. it sums him up really. The Bolton Evening News wanted a press shot of me and him for this massive Christmas Eve pillowfight we organised in 2006, and this was what we came up with in school. We weren't taking it seriously at all, he's not naked behind the pillow, but still needless to say they didn't print the picture! I like to think its pinned up somewhere in their office though! Anyway this is a pretty good representation of his quirky sense of humour.. he's seriously one of the funniest people I've met.

Anyway, last night was his 18th celebrations. Because he doesn't really come out with us numbers were severely depleted but I was always going to be there for his big night, and in the end 6 of us went into Manchester. Originally the plan was to go from Altrincham to 5th Ave. (big Indie club) but we realised it was a student night and a lot of people were going 42's (smaller Indie club) who we knew so we headed there. There was a huge queue heading in but once we were in it was well worth it. Absolutely rammed, brilliant music and atmosphere, and filled with people we knew. Excellent.
Michaela McQueen from Hollyoaks was in there, and let me tell you she is absolutely gorgeous in real life.. nothing like on TV. I'm normally not really a fan of Indie Girls as they're normally a bit less.. maintained and can be a little bit sweaty and out of shape, the same applies to Indie Boys, but when they get it right, Its definitely a good look. Michaela had certainly gotten it right. (That picture wasn't from Last night)
It was quite an eventful night. In the toilets toward the end of the night someone accidentally slammed a door straight into Dec's face. He got a cut above his eye and blood poured out of it, down, and onto his new £50 Levi shirt that he got for his birthday. Gutted.
Also, afterwards as we were getting into our taxi a car of girls behind us started beeping. They had been out so were a bit worse to wear but the beeping was out of order so someone shouted a few obsenities at them and we got in the taxi. Next thing we know one of these smashed girls has gotten out of the car, opened our taxi door and started shouting in and pushing us. It was the funniest thing, everyone on the street (loads because we were just outside 42s at closing) were pointing and laughing, we were laughing as well so in the end she just kind of stopped and walked back to her car dejectedly with her head down. The driver was absolutely wetting himself!
In the end it was a wicked night, which was totally unexpected because so many people dropped out/were looking for excuses, and because it was all really last minute (Dec didn't organise anything so I had to rally round in the day.) I stayed at Dec's, and really enjoyed myself.
This morning we watched You Only Live Twice.. my favourite Bond film by far. An absolute classic. Sean Connery is excellent. And later I'm off to visit a friend who's recovering from a knee operation. Good stuff!
