Last night I watched Indiana Jones & The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull (the newest one). Indiana Jones just isn't to my taste, it never has been. Its too cheesy. This one was no better, just a bit too cheesy, Harrison Ford is too old for that sort of dynamic and active role.. it just all looked a little bit off. Having said that though, Kate Blanchett was brilliant as the Russian nemesis, and the film featured the Iguazu Falls very heavily.

Over summer when I was on my Rugby Tour to South America we got to visit the falls for a couple of days. It was without a doubt the most beautiful place I've ever been, and the Iguazu was the second best place we visited to only Rio Di Janeiro. Anyway, the Iguazu falls are the border between Argentina and Brazil, which is pretty cool because if your on the Brazilian side of the falls you can look across and wave to people on the Argentinian side. They are a huge tourist attraction so the whole area has adapted so there are shops, train lines for easy access. The falls aren't just one but a huge system of them over like 2 miles of the River Iguazu so it really is an incredible place to visit. All the waterfalls are so spectacular, and a system of walkways have been built so tourists can get really close which makes it even better. The falls are higher than the Niagra Falls and are one of the 7 natural wonders of the world. There's a story behind them that a God was in love and going to marry a local girl, but she ran away with her human lover in a canoe on the river, so in rage the God sliced the river in two and created the falls, which was pretty cool hearing while we were stood next to them. While we were at the falls, we got a speedboat trip right underneath them which was incredible.. we all got absolutely soaked. We got a open truck ride through the jungle afterwards but didn't see anything of interest, even though there is loads of wildlife in the area.
While we were there we were all pretty speechless, it was the best thing any of us had ever seen, we were all in awe. One of my mates said to me "Imagine being an explorer, walking through the jungle, and being the first human to discover this." That blew my mind, because it was right, we were staying 10minutes away in the actual town, Iguazu and had no idea this was so close, you can't hear it and the shops aren't all selling falls souvenirs or anything so you think you're just in another normal town then when you get there you are just in awe. It was like walking round in a film.. the best place I've ever been.
The waterfall that featured the most on the Indiana Jones film is called "Devil's Gorge" ,its the biggest of the falls and is where this picture was taken of us all. The falls have been in Moonraker (Jaws goes over the edge in a speedboat and Bond paraglides over) and the Miami Vice film from 2006.

In other news, today I booked my Benicassim tickets! £140! Cannot wait, I'm missing my aunty and her boyfriend's wedding party and my cousin's christening for it, but I think It'll be well worth it. The party isn't their wedding (thats in Ibiza for just the 3 of them) and my cousin getting christened is 2 so its not as big a deal.
