Film Of The Year - Batman
ark Knight

I barely went to the cinema this year, but I did see this film there. It was good, and i was mesmerized by Heath Ledger as the Joker. He's disturbing, weird, scary, but at the same time.. pretty comical with it. I'd only ever seen him in Knight's Tale before, but he is fantastic in the role and I do just wonder if he hadn't died, what could have been. Anyway, the film is fantastic, my personal favourite bit being when The Joker is trying to stop Dent's police convoy and Batman is in pursuit. It was the first film we watched on our new home cinema system last night and it blew me away. I'm not sure if that was due to the TV or what, but its easily my favourite film of this year.
Book Of The Year - Geraint Anderson - CityBoy
Geraint Anderson used to be a hippy waster, then became a London city trader. He's a pretty quirky guy and had always hated "City Boys" but suddenly found himself become one and had become the scourge of himself. He then quit his job and wrote this semi-biographical book about a hippy turned trader who then has a personal journey throughout the book and a personal vendetta against the worst trader of them all, which to win, he has to become the best at what he hates most about London. Its a really good read, very entertaining, but it also helped me understand much more about the credit crunch and all that. Fun AND Learning!
Album(s) Of The Year - Friendly Fires - Friendly Fires

I'd waited for this album all year and it didn't dissappoint. Simple as. Great band, great album, unique sound.
Kanye West - 808s & Heartbreak

Simply because its Kanye West It was all i listened to for about the last month. I played that CD to death like no other this year.
Game Of The Year - Grand Theft Auto IV
![]()
The night before its UK release, I went online and watched a stream of someone playing it in America I was so keen for it. It didn't dissapoint, I've played it all year, and loved every minute. Its the only game ever where after completing it I started all over again straight away. I love the series.. hopefully in the next one there will be more countryside like San Andreas, but I'm not expecting a release until 2010-11. Gran Turismo is out in a few months though so I'll manage!
Hero Of Year - Lil' Wayne

He won award after award in 2008, sold a million copies of "Carter III" in the first week, nominated for 8 Grammys, MTV'S Inaugral Man Of The Year.. the list goes on. I loved Carter III and hopefully if he gets a tour going in 2009 will get to see the self-proclaimed "Greatest rapper alive", an assessment I fully agree with.
Villain Of Year - Alistair Darling

Nothing but bad news or apologies from him all year. His 'brows hypnotise me.
Biggest Disappointment - Large Hadron Collider
Hyped as potential end of the world, on the morning of 10th September I waited along with the rest of the world for complete anihalation. It didn't happen, and then 9 days later the machine broke putting it out of action for the rest of the year. Biggest anticlimax ever.
Biggest Overachiever - Hull City FC
![]()
Every fan outside the top 4 wants them to do well now, especially myself after Man City fed them a can of whoop-ass last week and showed them real Premiership football. I also like Phil Brown's honesty in Interviews, the way they've followed Wigan from Obscurity to Premier League status, how the impression is given that the whole town/city of Hull supports them, and finally I've long been a fan of Marlon King. TIGERS! TIGERS!!

I'v got to agree with you on The Dark Knight, Heath is an absolute star in it, I think his interpretation of the Joker was Class A. The film is absolutely brilliant, the chase with the motorbike is definitely a high point as is the whole bank job. Quality film and def deserves to be Film of the Year. xx
