So today was meant to be my first day back at College. It wasn't.
Instead, after a quick drive around town and practicing some maneuvers i drove into Warrington test center. There were 5 other cars there with other people about to take their test, 2 were older and so there were only 3 of us who were 17/18. 5 cars, but only 4 parking bays, so I didn't get to do a bay park as one of my maneuvers, (Thank God!) so i drove out.
The examiner i had wasn't usually at Warrington, she worked at Widnes test center but there is extremely high demand at the minute for tests in the Warrington area as the test center closes at the end of the month. I knew i only had one chance at this.. The atmosphere was tense. I was a couple of cars behind someone else on their test and we followed them for the first 5-10minutes. We pulled off a main road and the two test cars did turns in the road next to eachother which was good because it blocked traffic coming from one direction for each of us. Then we pulled off and for the next 35minutes i was driving around, pulling over then setting off again, and I had to fit in an emergency stop before we returned to the test center. It had been shorter than i expected, so when i saw we were the first back of all the cars i started getting slightly worried. Was the test being cut short because i was so bad? I knew i had risen above the speed limit a couple of times but had always been quick to correct it, i forgot to check blind spots once when i was pulling off, and my approach speed and left reverse weren't that great...
"Well Daniel, you made 8 faults, so will be pleased to know you passed." I thought she was joking at first, but then she took the grin right off my face. "3 of those faults were for speeding, which you do need to keep an eye on very closely, I'd recommend the pass plus course to solve that."
Oh well, i was going to do pass plus anyway. My instructor was really pleased (the examiner I had is known to be a hard-ass!), so was I, so are my mum and dad, and mates apparently all know, although I've only spoke to one.
It feels good to be in the 46% of people who pass first time!!
Now i just have to deal with this afternoon!
