Flying over Buenos Aires was certainly an experience. As far as the eye could see from our plane, in every direction was block after block of the city. It was huge, I'd never seen anything like it. The only time the sprawling city was interrupted was by the River Plate (Rio De Plata)which looks like the ocean, but is in fact a river.. 200km wide. Buenos Aires was by far looking like the biggest city I'd ever been to and when we touched down it didn't dissapoint.
A long coach journey along the motorway through the city showed us a HUGE shantytown next to the city railway, River Plate FC's stadium, a really nice commercial district.. and then our hotel just happened to be right in the center of a really dingey area which was also the main red light district. Hooray!
Seriously though the hotel was not very nice at all but that didn't matter too much.. we made the best of it.
The first night we all had an early night because we were all so tired from the day's travelling and we had the Belgrano tournament the next day. Belgrano was an absolute disaster, instead of being a 1st and 2nd XV we were split into U18s and U16s which was bad because some key U16s players are a big part of the 1stXV which was essentially the U18s. As a a result the U18s lost all 4 of their games and the U16s managed only 2 wins. It was bad because we would have beaten the teams normally so we were really frustrated as the opposition wasn't that good, and we picked up a lot of injuries.
The atmosphere afterwards wasn't too great so we all went out in the evening to a restaurant, back to the hotel for the half ten curfew (which we weren't happy about as we are going on 18) and then back out afterwards. It was easy enough but me and a friend got seperated from everyone and whilst walking the streets a pimp came to us to try and get us to go into his stripbar. We weren't interested and the guy wouldnt leave us alone but we just wanted to find our mates so i said maybe later, then he stepped up his game even more, practically dragging me off the street and throwing me in while my friend looked on. So here i was, in a stripbar in Buenos Aires at like 2 in the morning, on my own, with these two girls who were absolute stunners. They sat me down and were talking to me, then they got some drinks over that they called promotions so i assumed were free (wrong) and then after a while they both stood up and started giving me a lapdance pretty much out of the blue. I told them both i wasn't interested but they insisted, saying it was a little taster, a freebie so i reluctantly sat back down. They danced and then started kissing eachother when all of a sudden the pimp came in and started shouting at them, shining a torch in my face and making gestures he needed paying. I tried explaining i wasn't interested but the guy was blocking my exit, and the girls were shouting at him aswell, and i could see about 10 of my mates at the door trying to get in. I had to pay to get out, £60 Argentinian Peso which was all i had on me (£5 english money) which was extremely good value for 3 drinks and the rest so i wasnt too bothered. The girls gave me a card for free entry and drink all night but to be honest i was just glad to get out, there was no way i was going back there. My first experience in a strip bar was.. OK but it didnt really make me want to go to any others and got rid of my curiosity so i dont really regret it.. Its just another life experience.
After that we all went back to the hotel. The next day we had a city tour, so we saw "The Flower" (now much loved Argentinian modern art of a huge metal flower in a park), the part of town with all of the embassies in, Buenos Aires' most exclusive graveyard (La Recolecta Cemetry), The Obelisk, Florida Street, and The Presidential House in the main square with its famous "Dont Cry For Me Argentina" balcony.
The tour was really good and lasted until about 2.30, after which we had free time. We spent the rest of the day on Florida Street, which is a main shopping street with loads of tourists, people selling their own goods to them and buskers and entertainers. Its really cool and we got loads of gifts from there that day.
That night we went back and we found out that the teachers were keeping the 10.30 curfew and when we tried sneaking out they were all playing poker in the lobby so there was no way out. We tried everything, going through the basement, kitchens, garage, even contemplating 50 of us going out of a first floor window but there was no way out. Eventually complaints were made so we all bitterly went to bed.
The next day the team were all really angry at not being allowed out to enjoy our last night in Buenos Aires, and too much travelling all started to get to everyone. A bad tempered coach journey and we were at our next destination.. the coastal town of Mars De Plata.

haha I had a laugh at your visit to the strip club! Blimey mate, touching girls bums in England AND going in strip joints doesn't paint a good picture for the judge, LOL. Only joking.
