Radiohead

by IgorAkineev @ 30. Jun 2008 - 04:48:24 pm

Last night i went to see the might Radiohead at Old Trafford Cricket Ground, and i was not dissappointed. There was a lot of waiting around, i couldn't move and my back was killing by the end of it but I'd still say it was worth it. Thom Yorke is great, he put loads into the performance and his vocals were so so clear, they are all amazing musicians, Johnny Greenwood is brilliant at everything and wears cool clothes and has good hair haha.. Nude was beautiful, Fake Plastic Trees, Jigsaw Falling Into Place, Lucky and Paranoid Android were the other highlights for me.. but there were so many other songs I didn't know which were also all good. It was good to see them because they are untouchable really, in a way Oasis can never be, and they don't tour very often either. The crowd wasn't the best, a lot of older couples just standing and quite a few obnoxious people so I'm not sure if it was worth the £50 i paid, as it wasn't as good as the Arctic Monkeys were at the same venue in summer. But still a very good night.
The lights were the best I've ever seen at a gig, absolutely unbelievable, i got this photo from someone's flickr.

Support were MGMT (for the kids) and Bat For Lashes (absolute freak)

Adulthood..

by IgorAkineev @ 29. Jun 2008 - 10:23:06 am

Yesterday i went to see Adulthood with a few mates and then went round Manchester. I think i preferred Kidulthood but it was still a quality film and rubbed off on me because i came out of the cinema saying "Alright Blad." and other such London slang... I'm sorry!
Noel Clarke must be pretty talented though, you can't doubt anyone who wrote, directed and starred in a film that was better than average. I've seen him in Dr. Who and Kidulthood before yesterday but he seemed quite good. Jay in the film made me laugh many times aswell because i have a friend like him hahaha..

Last night i went out with work.. it was guurrdd.. only just got in about half an hour ago.. a very good night!

I need some sleep before i go and see Radiohead.. I'm going to watch some Glastonbury videos aswell! Heres the trailer for Adulthood if you don't get what I'm on about.

Dizzy Blud?

Liverpool

by IgorAkineev @ 27. Jun 2008 - 05:49:29 pm

Today again i made my way to the great city of Liverpool, this time for the university open day. Its not even close to as good as Leeds, but its still an OK city really.. i just don't really see myself going there.

I went into HMV and bought "Rascalize" by The Rascals...
which i am highly impressed with and would reccomend.
I also bought Metal Gear Solid for the Playstation and from the bus back saw Micah Richards in Stockton Heath. He is an absolute tank!

I Quit My Job!

by IgorAkineev @ 26. Jun 2008 - 08:27:19 pm

So today i handed in my two week notice and i am extremely happy about it!! Its a good time to be leaving Debenhams, on the day their shares hit an all time low but also as a new influx of 16 year olds starts working at the cafe and some of us old timers start to move on. I've been working there since November, made many friends, loads of whom seem to be leaving at the moment, or are about to do so so I'd rather go now than wait until i was the only one left. When i told a special person at work who we had a thing together last year she was pretty gutted.. she has a boyfriend but made me wonder what goes on in her head..?
Anyway, I needed more hours but they only had them at weekends, which i need to be free next year due to rugby and social life. I'm planning on getting more work nights next year, which they couldn't offer me at Debenhams, the pay wasn't good either, and its quite far away from me when i actually think about it. I'm not going to be able to get a new job now until September because i'm going on tour and stuff and it just isn't worth getting one now, but i have enough money to last and do have another job lined up.

There is a hotel literally 2 minutes walk down the road from me which is always hiring and is a good job to have pay-wise. I applied there last year but I'd already taken the Debenhams job when they offered me one, but they kept my details just in case so i will take them up on that and now that i have a year's experience getting hired should be simple enough.

My last day is on the 10th of July, exactly 2 weeks from tonight, and 3 days before my cancer bike ride. I have a few shifts until then, and 2 work nights out not including my own leaving do on the 8th. (I'm 17 and have been working there for about 9 months and get a leaving do!! Result!!) I'm pretty busy over the next couple of weeks...

27th June - Liverpool Uni. Open Day
28th June - Work Night Out #1 (Annette's 18th)
29th June - Radiohead (!!) at Old Trafford
6th July - Friend's Fashion Show I'm briefly in i think..
8th June - Work Night Out #3 (#2 is sometime the week before)
10th June - My Last Day At Debenhams
13th July - Christies' Cancer Bike Ride with College (Blackpool - Manchester)
16th July - Depart For Kos
24th July - Back From Kos

My Soundtrack..!

by IgorAkineev @ 23. Jun 2008 - 11:23:36 pm

I've done this before, but its a bit of fun and doing the rounds again so here we go...
The idea is to whack your itunes/ipod/media player/whatever on shuffle and see which songs come up as you go through your film.

Opening Credits : War Of The Worlds - Get Cape Wear Cape Fly
Waking Up Scene : The Everlasting - Manic Street Preachers (Great song)
Getting Ready Scene : I'll Cry Instead - The Beatles
Car Driving Scene : Gravity's Rainbow - Klaxons
High School Flashback Scene : Don't Tell Me - The View
Nostalgic Scene : The Emperor's Soundtrack - Lupe Fiasco
Angry Scene: Two Tribes - Frankie Goes To Hollywood
Agony, Painful Scene: X&Y - Coldplay
Break-up Scene : Shatter - Feeder
Sad, Breakdown Scene : Helicopter - Bloc Party
Nightclub/Dance Scene : Touch It/Technologic - Daft Punk
Buddy/Sidekick Scene: Freakbeat Phantom - The Rascals
Life's OK: You Talk - Babyshambles
Dreaming of Someone Scene: Summer Skin - Death Cab For A Cutie
Contemplation Scene: Just A Thought - Gnarls Barkley
Love Scene: Plastic Tramp - Arctic Monkeys
Kissing Scene: Secret - Bloc Party
Relaxing Scene: Dry Your Cheeks - Jamie T
Action/Fight Scene: Fallowfield Hillbilly - The Courteeners
Victory Scene : Sensual Seduction - Snoop Dogg
Closing Credits: War Is Necessary - Nas

Not too bad a soundtrack imo, not what I'd choose, but it finishes well.
I really need to get some more non-indie stuff on my laptop!!

My Driving..

by IgorAkineev @ 22. Jun 2008 - 10:46:16 pm

.. is actually fucked.

I never normally do 2 posts in the same day but this has all happened this afternoon really. I went on the DSA website to book my test (about time really, been driving since January) but there was a 6 week wait. That was my own fault really, i should have booked sooner, but when it comes to actually telling me when to book my test or when I'm getting close my instructor is absolutely useless. He's a nice guy, but he just doesn't want me to pass i think. I feel he's going waay too slowly, and he's not being much of a help now when I'm trying to book my test.
Fair enough, its in his best interests to keep me going slowly as he's getting more and more money, but when it gets to the point of over 30 lessons its an absolute pisstake. That is a hell of a lot of money to be spending on lessons where I'm progressing at baby pace.
Anyway, i thought the 6 week wait wouldn't be too bad, and i could get a cancellation to speed it up but the instructor is being very funny about that saying i need to check with him so he doesn't double book, but it takes him like 4 hours every time to text back so its no good to me. So there is a 6 week wait, i go on holiday for a week in 4 weeks, then i am home for a week, and the day after i leave for South America for 3 weeks is the first test vacancy. Absolutely gutted, but then to make it worse the day i get back my instructor goes on holiday for a week so i can't do my test then as I'm meant to do it in his car. So that would finish my summer off and I'd be back at college again before i could take my test.. BUT I'M READY NOW!!

I'm so frustrated about the whole thing.. and its too late to leave him for another instructor.. I'm going to have to speak with him next lesson and voice my opinions and see if he can either sort me out with another instructor until then, or another similar car for the test. I cannot face having to wait until September.. i need to be driving now!!

Leeds...

by IgorAkineev @ 22. Jun 2008 - 01:17:32 pm

So over the weekend I've been in Leeds for the open day and a general look around. I used my new rail card for the first time, what an investment! £10 return is great when other friends paid £18 single!
Anyway, I've been to Leeds before, its a great city, like Manchester but more compact, which also makes it seem more student dominated. I really like the feel of the city, but hadn't looked around the university in any detail. Unfortunately by the time we got there I'd missed half of the talks for my subjects but i still managed to get to the History and Politics ones. I was really impressed with history, but you need 2As and a B, aswell as an A in History so I'm not sure about it yet. But if i got the grades thats probably the course I'd go for at Leeds. Politics was good, you do a placement with an MP/Congressman aswell but History just pushed all my buttons and the professors and content seems interesting so I'm now seriously thinking about it.

I went to Leeds with 20 friends and after all the talks because it was a nice day we all sat in Hyde Park which was a laugh, before then going out in Headingley and Leeds at night which was quality. There weren't many decent clubs open on Fridays, its more in the week apparently, and because of the open day everywhere was being strict anyway, but we all ended up in this little club later on and it was class. Everyone had a mint night, i really like Leeds and now it has to be a serious contender for uni.

I didn't meet up with that student, but she's going back to Leeds on Tuesday so there's potentially a night there.

Slightly Confused?

by IgorAkineev @ 17. Jun 2008 - 09:08:41 pm

Why would a hot 21 year old student be interested in 17 year old guy me?

I don't know but I'm certainly not complaining!

Leeds Open Day on Friday should be interesting!!

Liverpool & Friends

by IgorAkineev @ 15. Jun 2008 - 05:55:38 pm

So since my last post i had my day off college to work in Liverpool. I'd never been to Liverpool before and its a very nice city from what i saw. I went down on the train with 2 other girls from my work and it was a pretty funny day. Scousers have to be the friendliest people I've ever met, the staff, the customers, it was all brilliant. I always had a preconception of them due to my Manchester links as scumbags but they're absolutely brilliant. I love how the women always call you "hun" "Thanks Hun," "Over Here Hun" Brilliant.

The only downside to the day was the fact that a customer had a seizure. She was only young, and didn't know she had epilepsy or anything, and it was absolutely horrible. One minute i was serving her a pot of tea, she went and sat down then her eyes rolled into the back of her head and she was on the floor shaking. When she came round she didn't know where she was or remember anything either which wasn't very nice. The other customers were all sat and just carried on drinking their tea or eating their food and gawping the whole time aswell which i thought was in bad taste. We called an ambulance and they were there in like 7 minutes and they took her away. I haven't heard anything since but she should be fine.

Anyway, Liverpool as a city is really nice, the Debenhams i was working in was really nice and only opened 2 weeks ago, and the new ONE shopping center is going to be amazing when its completely finished and opened. Its still under construction but its going to be even better than Piccadilly Gardens in my opinion. Its really modern and pleasing to the eye. There are escalators outdoors aswell!!!

Anyway that night i went out with friends and it was a pretty poor night in all honesty. 2 girls were in foul moods because they'd been at a funeral in the day so shouldn't really have been out because they put a downer on the whole thing, other girls weren't talking and two of the lads were trying to outdo each other to impress this girl who has had a boyfriend for the last year so it was impossible to get a word in anywhere really. The girls are starting to seem more and more dry every night we're out with them, and i feel i'm drifting apart from all the lads apart from a few. I am different to everyone else in the music and interests i have, i don't live anywhere near them, I'm not United fans as they are and i don't really like their sense of humour a lot of the time. I can see things changing a lot over summer by who i hang out with and people's positions within our group of friends, i could see it on Friday.
I probably shouldn't have gone as its put thoughts into my head now!

For Father's day today i bought my dad the new James Bond novel from Waterstones which he seems rather pleased with. I'm also going to buy The Wire DVD boxsets off the internet in the next couple of days, sort myself a railcard, hopefully find my driving license (currently missing) and get back on the road to passing my test!

First Day Back

by IgorAkineev @ 10. Jun 2008 - 12:11:21 am

So today i started my A2 courses for next year.. Unlike how i thought it would be there is going to be work and it won't be as chilled as i would like, so i wont be able to get any weekday shifts after this week unless it seriously calms down, meaning less money for Kos which I am not happy about. Today was basically going through the exams or looking through next years syllabus and sorting our new teachers. Luckily my Philosophy teacher who we got at Christmas to replace one who retired isn't taking us next year, and we're getting the head of RE who is a much much better teacher and all round cool guy, even if he does dictate his beliefs onto his pupils. I'll be able to deal with that though.
It was good seeing everyone, as i knew it would be, and we spent free periods in the park, sunbathing haha. Throughout the day one by one everyone started dropping out of a night out planned for tonight so in the end it was only 2 people i liked and 5 who i didn't or wasn't mates with,so i pulled out aswell..
To be honest i wasn't up for it, i want to be alright for rugby training tomorrow, and Holland-Italy was on tonight and i wanted to watch it! I did and it was good, I'd have my money on Holland over Germany to win the tournament now, i was very impressed.
Just a small post.

Summer Begins...

by IgorAkineev @ 08. Jun 2008 - 04:43:53 pm

So, since Wednesday it has been very much all play, little work. I've had Debenhams shifts but I've been out to pubs, clothe shopping, friend's houses and stuff so its been great. The weather has been nice and apart from a momentary lapse when i got a chicken kebab last night i've been eating really healthily so i feel good. The drinking has been heavy and the late nights are starting to take their toll but after a good night's sleep tonight I'll be reet.
I go back to college tomorrow, a little confused as to why we didnt get longer than 4 days off after the biggest exams of my 17 years so far? Oh well, to be honest the more I'm in college the more money I'll be saving, i have spent like £250 since Wednesday so i need to calm down a little bit. It will be relaxed aswell and i don't think the teachers will want to work us, or them too hard. It will be good to see everyone all together aswell and i can't wait for the free's in the park playing football and the rugby and fitness at lunchtimes. Its gonna be good.
Because it will be relaxed aswell some of my friends with jobs, myself included are applying for more shifts and full days in the week, only once a week though because we won't be missing much and to be honest we need all the money we can get for all the stuff we're doing this summer! Kos is only 37 days away now and i still have to get together some spending money! Anyway, i asked for extra shifts but unfortunately Debehnhams Warrington doesn't need me because its very quiet in the week.. so i'm off to the new flagship Debenhams Liverpool on Friday where a load of my old work mates now work full time! Its always busy and takes like double our weekly takings in half a week so they need all the help they can get. There's a few of us going so we've organised someone to drive and will split petrol between the 4/5 us. I've never been to Liverpool in my life to my boss's surprise so I'm looking forward to it, its another place i can start to get familiar with and its earning me money so can't complain. I'm hoping there will be some hot Scousers working on Friday aswell! That would make it!!

Kos - 37 Days
South America - 54 Days

Finished - Best Night Ever

by IgorAkineev @ 05. Jun 2008 - 09:24:14 pm

So yesterday the exams finished with economics, and it went ok. I'm so happy they're finished, i got home and was absolutely buzzing so i rushed and went straight to meet friends at a pub. Had a few drinks there and then went into Manchester into this club where i literally knew every 3rd person, it was amazing, a great night.. everyone was really happy and up for it and it was brilliant. Due to me not being out in so long i was called Captain Caveman which was quite funny so everywhere i went 1 in like 7 people were shouting it.. classic.

It was a really good night but then at the end at closing i got in a bit of trouble. I didnt have anywhere to stay but i wasn't really bothered, i couldn't be bothered with the hassle of sorting it and was just concentrating on having a good night so didn't sort anything, it wasn't a big deal. So at closing i'm sat down with this girl i know and we're sat in a doorway just chilling when these four lads start mouthing off at us. Now they were my age (17) i think, but when they started mouthing off i told them to fuck off basically, so one of them came back and started like leaning over me and pointing in my face wanting a fight. Then they all came back and were all wanting a fight "youre a fucking pussy mate," "we'll batter you" "come in this alley now and we'll do you over" Now there was no way i was ever going to go into an alley with these lads, or anyone, if i was going to fight it would be in the street because then other people come and stop it, so i was telling these lads no i wasn't going to fight them, but they wouldn't leave me and this girl alone. All my friends had gone so it was just me and this girl, but these lads wouldn't go away, so i did what i had to do.
In a second i switched from being sat down and no i won't fight you lot, to stood up and squared up in the guys face. I stood up quickly and was right in the guys face but i wasn't shouting or anything, i looked at him and calmly said "Sorry mate, what were you going to do?" This guy and his mates were all pretty weedy, and when i stood up his face dropped and he didn't say a word, but then one of his mates went for me, so i gripped him by the throat and threw him against a wall, then another one swung for me, so i dodged it and punched him (it was like the worst punch i've ever done, got him with my thumb?!) and then 2 of them grabbed me but i got out of it and slammed them both into the wall. By this time the girl i was with was screaming and people were coming from across the street to help me out because they could see it was me versus 4 guys, when a policeman came and completely handled the situation. He stood in the middle and went "OI! STOP", told these 4 lads to walk one way and me the other and just leave and he'd make sure they didn't follow me. He couldn't arrest me and wasn't going to because he'd seen them squaring up to me before, and because there was 3 of them and i was just with this girl if anyone was going to get arrested it would be them. I've never been in a fight on a night out before, it wasn't a particularly pleasant experience and even though i pulled some bruce lee shit on them i don't intend on doing it regularly at all.. its not big and not clever i know but these lads wouldn't leave me alone.

So i walk away down chester road with the intention of walking home when i get a phonecall of a mate who was still outside this club and had no way of getting home, so we meet up outside Old Trafford on Chester Rd and walk for what seems like hours laughing, joking, talking about the night. We weren't the only ones walking home, and we were talking to all these other people and it was fine because it was day light about an hour after closing time. We walked along Chester road until we got to Stretford when my mate couldn't take anymore so he rings his mum to pick him up, its about 5 in the morning and she was soooo annoyed when she got there, she didn't know who i was and was shouting at him so i refused a lift to his and got a taxi from the met. to a mates house in Sale who had a free house. I got in at around half 6 and spent the next hour explaining what had happened to me on the most eventful night of my life. It was absolutely brilliant, and so so surreal! Loved every minute of it!

Philosophy Exam - Less than 24 hours until end of exams!

by IgorAkineev @ 03. Jun 2008 - 05:03:41 pm

So today i woke early and read through my philosophy notes again. Of all the topics i only revised 3, The Cosmological Argument, Evil + Suffering and Utilitarianism. I did those 3 questions, and to be honest i think i nailed it. We'll see though, i once thought I had nailed a GCSE exam and ended up getting a B by 1 mark after a good piece of coursework so i'm trying to not be overly confident, I'm just happy with how it went.

Tomorrow i have my last exam, 3 hours of Economics finishing at 3.30. I haven't done as much work for it as the other subjects, but I'm predicted a B so i will look through tonight and tomorrow morning and hopefully i will be able to scrape through.

Everyone's finished by tomorrow, some finished today, but tomorrow night everyone is out. I can't wait, its been too long. I'm still undecided between going to Manchester or Sheffield as a few of the lads are driving down and staying at an older brother's student house who he shares with a load of people who used to go our school. Either one will be a mint night, I'm going to take a bag with all my stuff in to the exam and go back to someone's house and decide on the day where I'm going to be.
Anyway, in anticipation after the exam today i went and got my haircut and now its all sinking in that I'm basically there. I cannot wait and don't know how I'm going to concentrate in the exam!!

Anyway, tomorrow night will be a big one so I won't be posting on here tomorrow, and as i have work on Thursday night i may be too tired on Thursday. If i never post on here again i probably died.. avenge me!!

Good bye!!

Update.. 2 Days To Go!

by IgorAkineev @ 02. Jun 2008 - 11:31:09 pm

So over the weekend i had 2 shifts at Debenhams.. they were really good i felt like i needed them to get me away from all the books. Basically everything i need for the exams is in my head now, i just have to sit down and get it all down on paper on the day.
I had my history today, it was horrible. The exam wasn't too bad, the second (British History) paper was better than the first paper (European), where i wasted half of my revision time because instead of doing 1 question Germany and one question Russia i did 2 questions on Russia which i was surprised at because i didn't think my notes on it were very good. Anyway the exams were ok, just really tiring because it was 3 hours of continuous essay writing.. i was absolutely starving at the end!

I saw a lot of my friends again today, it was really good, i cannot wait for Wednesday now when i am finished and can start being out all the time again. I missed them!! One of them has passed his driving test aswell, which is good as now 2 of our lot can drive.. with me soon to be a 3rd hopefully! The more we get in cars the better!!

I have Philosophy tomorrow, 3 questions in an 1hr45min paper. I've not really done much work tonight though, i have been on the computer, relaxing really. I'll get up at 9 tomorrow and get some hours in, the exam starts at 1.30 but part of my technique is to just not get worried by them or treat them any differently, so I'm staying calm and relaxed.

Sven Goran Eriksson was sacked by my club Man City today. Its a sad day for the club, and i am a bit ashamed of the treatment Sven has got from the chairman and the rest of the executives in getting the sack after a very successful season. There were bad moments, and the lack of form towards the end will have cost him his job, especially the 8-1 defeat to Middlesborough as that was the worst i have seen them play in several years, probably since that Arsenal match where we were 4-0 down after half an hour or something. It looks like Mark Hughes will be brought in, which is a good thing as he is a top manager, but he comes will less of a reputation than Sven.. but i think he'll do well and maybe will tap up David Bentley for us!

On my last post i received a few compliments on my blog. Its nice to know people read it, and especially when people have it on their favorites and are returning visitors. Thats pretty much the biggest compliment you can get on here so i am very grateful. But making a career out of blogging? A little premature i think Sivakumar!I'm not really sure how I could make money from it.. and I'd hate to be at a computer a lot of the time for a job.. but thanks anyway!
I'm glad people read this anyway.. its given me a bit of a boost and i guess its nice because i have a selection of blogs on my favourites i read regularly so I'm glad someone is repaying the favour!
