Another Day.. 1 week to go!

by IgorAkineev @ 28. May 2008 - 11:27:19 pm

I've had another excellent driving lesson, and had my 2 year old cousin round which has actually really helped me work today, given me a bit of a boost. After only 3 history past paper questions and reading up on it there's a notable improvement.

Its one of my good friend's birthdays today so everyones out. I rang him and explained i simply couldn't, the distance for me to go means i can't stay at my house, so thats a morning wasted and because they're all going a club it would be a days recovery needed and i can't afford to waste a day due to work this weekend. He understood, he's done more exams than me and he appreciated me ringing him so its alright really.. i don't even like the club they're going to in particular. I cannot wait for this weekend to be over.

The In-Betweeners on E4 is absolutely brilliant. Crude, witty.. just like real life. I think its rapidly replacing Skins as my favorite teen drama. They even have shotgun like we do! Brilliant!

I'm going to give posting on here a miss for a few days if i can because even i can tell writing this that its uninteresting. I don't know how long I'll last though because there really is nothing going on.. I'm doing this out of sheer boredom! Same time tomorrow night??

My Week so far...

by IgorAkineev @ 27. May 2008 - 12:35:21 pm

It hasn't really been much.
Working at Debenhams Saturday, Sunday (1.5rate!), Bank Holiday Monday (Double Rate!) has been so tiring. I really wouldn't be able to hack a full time job in the catering industry, its such hard work and compared to the work they do on menswear etc. downstairs its a lot more, but they still get paid more?? I Don't understand it. Over the bank holiday weekend I've earned an absolute wad of cash though, and with payday on Friday, and me not going out for the last few weeks its all for summer! We had a really disgusting woman who was young, alright looking, but took her sandals off and put her feet on the tray rail and started picking at her toes while i was making her drinks! I was nearly sick! It was absolutely disgusting.

My revision is going well, Today - Friday and Sunday I'm gonna really go mental with it and do as much as i can.. past papers.. learning things.. everything! There's only 3 subjects and 1 week left and then I'm free to spend my fat wad of wages however and wherever i please! Cannot wait!

My drivings going really well, had another lesson this morning and have another tomorrow morning, and so far it seems the high standards of last week weren't a fluke. My instructor today was talking about doing a mock test next week so hopefully if that goes well... ooh I'm getting exited just thinking about it.

Basically at the moment I'm making sacrifices with friends for a short time, putting effort in to revision, shifts at Debenhams, and driving because i know in one week I'll have finished my exams, have a huge paycheck and shortly afterwards will have passed my test. Basically all of what I'm doing now will be worth it and I'll be reaping rewards shortly from it.
Thats whats keeping me going at the moment, and loads of new music I'm getting for my i-pod, and a bit of GTA and football manager in the night time. That helps too!

Also, Annie Mac is starting to get my appreciation. Great music, sexy voice and accent.. she's wicked on the radio.

The Rascals

by IgorAkineev @ 26. May 2008 - 10:49:37 am

I know a couple of posts back i called Miles Kane "extremely average" or words to that effect when i was writing about The Last Shadow Puppets, but over the last week i've joined a free members only music sharing website (which is absolutely class, i've been getting loads of new music for my i-tunes) and managed to download a few of The Rascals' EPs and Singles. I even managed to get a sampler of "Rascalize", a 5 track selection from the forthcoming debut album. Its great. The forthcoming single "Freakbeat Phantom" is really good, has a good drum beat and guitar parts, but there's this other track "Bond Girl" which is really stuck in my head. The vocals on it are good "You all need to caaalllmm dooowwwnn" before the track then gets a barrage of a dirty guitar riff which is then accompanied by another higher pitch guitar. I'm not good at writing about music and describing it, and when i'm reading reviews i often have trouble understanding what they're on about, so the best thing would be probably just to post it. Listen to "Bond Girl" and you'll see what i mean, its great when turned really loud on my stereo.

New Car & Driving

by IgorAkineev @ 22. May 2008 - 01:04:32 pm

So this morning i have been greeted by a new car, not for me though (which is a shame) but my dad has bout an MG TF. Its silver, 1.8l engine and seriously powerful. He took me out for a spin in it and its incredible, i've never really been in a sports/high performance car before and it was great. Driving with the top down was really nice and the best thing about it is he got it at a knockdown price because of a few silly little faults (the locking makes a really strange noise, and the radio doesn't work) but they can be fixed at minimal cost so its an excellent buy. I told him that this wasn't even the worst of the mid-life crisis he's about to go through, and he tried laughing it off, but he knows I'm right. It does look slightly wrong with my dad driving it, in a car like that you're on display so i told him to get some new threads (clothes) but its a bit of fun so fair play to him. When he was younger he used to have a MG midget and he always regretted selling it when i was born, and he loves MGs so he's absolutely loving it. If it had been me choosing it though, i would have got it in a different colour, perhaps black or deep blue. This ones exactly what ours is like:

My driving is also going well, I'm getting better with every lesson, and have had 3 a week since i broke up for study leave so I'm on a steep learning curve at the moment. Hopefully I'll be able to take my test soon after the exams, Dave's (Instructor) been saying I'm doing fantastic and i have had a few tricky situations to deal with so i just need to keep the standard up.
Revision is going well too, I'm doing more than i did for my GCSEs but i suppose you have to because A-level is that much harder. My exams excluding general studies start tomorrow when i have got 3 continuous hours of politics to look forward to first thing in the morning. As you can guess, I'm ecstatic. I have a week off for half term and then the rest of them are all in 3 days after each other the first week back, i cannot wait for the 4th June then it will all be over.
Also United won the Champions League last night. I'm not happy, i wanted Chelsea to win because now every time United win another trophy it just shows how far behind as a club Man City are and i die a little inside. I admire Didier Drogba's style of play (when he's not crying to the physio on the floor) and Ashley Cole may be a bit of a bastard outside of the game but he really is a quality player. Salomon Kalou, Anelka and Shaun Wright-Phillips are also all quality players, and although i do like some United players (Vidic, Anderson, Ronaldo, Evra) i could never, ever watch a match supporting them and thats that.
The fans in Moscow did the country proud, and even though some Chelsea fans did kick off in London, the fact that so many more fans were so well behaved showed up Rangers yet again, as will the incriminating photos i get when my friend has developed them. They're coming!!

Rangers Fans In Manchester Photos 1

by IgorAkineev @ 17. May 2008 - 07:32:57 pm

These are the photos my friend took, they are incredible. He has even more of when it was REALLY going mental but they're still getting developed. I'll put them on when i get them but until then here is a taster. A man from the Daily Mirror wanted to buy these and i can see why. They're a lot better than even what i saw in the papers!!

I'll start off at the beginning with the best photos from his album.

"Cone Head"

Thats mine and his favourite, its class.

"Fear"

I had no idea how good he is at taking photos.. its not just me that thinks that is it? Will someone into photography please pass a judgment?
When the rest are developed i will put them on here. They will be amazing i'm sure.

This one sums up basically how all of Manchester feels about Rangers Fans now: Look at the guy's face!!

The Last Shadow Puppets

by IgorAkineev @ 16. May 2008 - 06:17:51 pm

One of many brilliant songs off their album, "The Age Of The Understatement"
I've been listening to it on and off since it came out, and it is a class album, the single was a bad choice though, there's loads of other better songs on the CD, like Calm Like You, My Mistakes Were Made For You (above) and Separate And Ever Deadly. One of the songs sounds like Adam And The Ants though.. not a good sign!
They're a good band, i don't expect them to make another album, instead they'll go back to The Rascals and Arctic Monkeys and it will be a one off concept album hopefully because another CD of this sort of thing would get tedious.

Over the album though, it only shows Miles Kane up as very average. I'm sure he's a very nice guy but sitting next to Alex Turner, who is of immense talent doesn't really do him any favors, and although i do like some of The Rascals stuff i find it a bit weird the similarities between the two of them in looks, style and voice. (although Miles isn't anything near as good as Turner's vocals)
The video shows him not really contributing that much, and he only does well on Separate And Ever Deadly on the album, so hopefully maybe next time he'll just stick to The Rascals (who are a very solid, decent band) and Alex Turner will do a solo album, thats what I'd rather see to be honest.

A very good CD though, download/buy it!

General Studies 2 & 3, And Rangers FC

by IgorAkineev @ 15. May 2008 - 09:14:46 pm

I had my other two general studies exams today, one half multiple choice and half essay, and the other full multiple choice. The first one was on ballet and had to be one of the worst exams I've ever done, so boring. Even more uninteresting than the family unit paper i did on Tuesday. The second paper was a bit of a disaster. It was all multiple choice but needed a calculator on some questions so guess what was fine last night but died in the exam room? Yes, my calculator.
About 15 questions that would have been easy marks became extremely challenging, so i had to do it all in my head/on paper and then make an educated guess. If it hadn't been multiple choice i would have failed it definitely. I managed to get a few answers off a mate though as well so i think i salvaged it pretty nicely.. well, i hope so. 3As and I'm getting a car so would be gutted to get a B in this!
My next exam is politics in 8 days, the first time its ever been before half term Dave (teacher) says! I have a while to prepare though anyway.

Last night i got a text saying come into town to watch the UEFA Cup Final with the Rangers fans and i really wanted to but in the end was much too tired. My friend went anyway on his own, because he was convinced there would be a riot, so he took his camera and went. I went on the internet about an hour before and saw all the pictures, picadilly gardens was completely invaded by a blue infestation.. looked amazing. For one day only, the whole of Manchester could drink in the street, aaallll day! So I'm watching the game and about 10mins in i get a text saying "Riot!" and then dead on 90 minutes he texts me again from home. There was a riot as he predicted, (I'm sure you've all seen the news) he got a load of amazing photos that some guy from the Daily Mirror tried to buy off him, he got talking to some and they are absolute scum of the earth apparently, he was in one of the fanzones when it all kicked off and apparently was like a room of battery chickens being put through a blender, absolute madness!! Maddest night of his life, said he had an amazing life experience, and i should have gone.
I go on the internet today, see 20 Rangers fans setting on one fallen over policeman, the state they have left the city centre in, videos of them smashing a car, and a Zenit fan stabbed? Scum of the earth, they are not welcome in Manchester again!! Lets build a 100 ft wall around Glasgow and let them rot. Why not all of Scotland?!!?
When i get some of my friend's pictures i'll post them.
Heres one from the aftermath.

Never Come Back!!!

First Few Days Of Study Leave

by IgorAkineev @ 13. May 2008 - 12:35:09 pm

I've been to a BBQ, which was very nice. Met some new girls, impressed them with my culinary skills and it was generally very good. I am absolutely loving this weather.
Over the weekend i had shifts at Debenhams, went to the pub on the Saturday after work with everyone but they were IDing people older than me so i just got a coke, drank it and left. It wasn't very good.
Grand Theft Auto is incredible.. if i didn't have exams i would literally play it 24/7.. it would take over my social life completely! I would switch my phone off, whack on some adult nappies and keep mum bringing in drinks etc. so i wouldn't have to move. Bliss!

Study Leave.. what are you meant to do again? Oh yeah, revise.
I've been doing quite a bit. I find getting up at 7 as i normally would and then revising until whenever i have something else to do or get bored is the best way. I've also noticed if i play GTA and then try to get back to work it just doesn't work so i'm doing alright really. I've only been doing this today though, and i started a bit later as i was extremely tired, but i should be able to keep it going. I did it yesterday but had my first exam in the afternoon so had to cut everything short. It was General Studies, all really vague questions about the family unit and how its being damaged by modern society due to both parents working, and the surveillance state etc. Utter balls. I only just managed to finish it but didn't have any problems.

Today is a friend's birthday so i think i may be out again for another BBQ tonight (the more the better!) and i am using the leave i have to get loads of driving done. I have three extra lessons booked for this week, and hopefully will be alright to take my test pretty much straight after my exams. Its about time really, i started in January, and passed my theory a while ago, and despite a major setback in crashing my dads car i'm not that bad. I just need to fine tune everything so that i am doing things like M-S-M without prompting.

Anyway, i am very busy so will probably not get to post again for a few days.
Until then!

GTA IV

by IgorAkineev @ 07. May 2008 - 10:04:41 pm

I bought it over the weekend (well my boss did for me, they were ID-ing if you look under 30 which i thought was a tiny bit extreme?!) and its incredible.

I've read some people are disappointed with it but its great. There are faults yes, like the difficult driving, shooting, the stories a bit repetitive, the soundtrack isn't a patch on San Andreas or Vice City and the online mode was a bit of a let down tbh. It more than makes up for these with the sheer scale of the game, the tiny intricate little details, the humourous changing banter between charachters during missions, the new physics engine (so when you are hit by a car it looks real), the graphics are amazing aswell, i absolutely love the game.

This and the amazing weather mean i have got hardly any work done at home. :S The weather is amazing, been in the park or doing rugby for like 2 hours every day this week and im getting brown already. I don't know how im going to cope with the Kos heat in summer!

But yeah, GTA is incredible, anyone with a PS3 or XBox360 has to buy it.
They just have to!

Boris Johnson

I will always have a soft spot for him and am quite glad he's the new mayor of London.

Chavs Put A Brick Through Car Window

by IgorAkineev @ 03. May 2008 - 10:03:46 pm

Last night i went to a houseparty for a girl's birthday, a top night overall, but it wasn't without the usual local chavs coming and trying to get in. Trying to force their way in, lads stand firm and say no, girls screaming, everybody goes outside, the chavs are shouting and have to be held back by their mates from hitting the screaming girls, neighbor calls the police etc. Pretty standard stuff basically.

I don't get why they do it. They (4 chavs) knew between them one person there but wanted to come in, they were asking me to get them in, but i said "Mate, you don't know the girl and its her house so your not coming in," which isn't unreasonable at all. What does this guy say? "Eat some shit ya bellend" and tries pushing past to get in. It was stupid. Anyway, they got round the side of the house and made off with one of our crates before disappearing when the police came to never be seen again. This is at about 2AM. Half of the party leave at 4AM, everyone else stays over. Calum had moved his car just in case the chavs did anything to it (£11k amazing wheels - he's so lucky) and Chris was going to do the same but then the police showed up so they went and in the end he didn't have to. He checked his car again before he went to bed at about 5 and it was fine.
So at 7.30 we are woken up by an old man, one of rosies neighbours knocking on the door asking if we had seen what had happened to Chris's car.. they'd only gone and put a brick through the back window! Sometime between 5 and 7.30 they had come back, and silently smashed it somehow without the alarm going off, and nobody waking up, and disappeared again!
Chris was so annoyed, he just sat there, angry expression and didn't say a word. He must have been absolutely gutted. It was so unlucky because there were 3 cars on the drive, and they just went for his, which he's had about 2and a half months. Luckily scum of the earth putting a brick through your window is covered on his insurance and his premiums won't go up.

Its just such a massive inconvenience, he'll have to pay the excess, and these scum of the earth guys have completely gotten away with it, we'll never see them again. The only thing stopping all of us 30 lads beating these 4 was the fact that it was Rosie's house and she'd have to deal with it if they came back another night, but it makes me think if we did the right thing? Surely if everyone stood up to scallies nationwide they wouldn't be a problem for anyone? I hate them, how thick and twisted they must be to do that to a stranger's car is beyond me. If it was my car i would be absolutely gutted, and livid.

Coursework

by IgorAkineev @ 01. May 2008 - 10:04:16 pm

So i have a piece of philosophy coursework in for tomorrow. Its all about abortion (a disgusting un-natural process) sanctity of life, and philosopher's attitudes to it all.

The first time i handed it in about 2 and half months ago, teacher gave it me back a week later and i was one of two people who had just about scraped an A on it. I was well chuffed so whilst everyone else was working hard to get up from the C they got i.. chilled basically which was good.
The second draft last month i handed it in again with a few minor changes again, but this time it was marked by the Head Of RE who didn't slaughter it completely but changed a lot, much more than my own teacher. He crossed out nearly a page of stuff on how abortions actually take place, was a lot more critical so i had loads of stuff to do. To be honest it was a lot less than many other people, but the comments he made he sounded angry and actually annoyed at me for what i was putting which was mildly amusing.
So i have made the changes he put, and now the final thing is in for tomorrow. I printed off my final piece and gave it to my dad to read (~as recommended by teacher who says give it someone who isn't an expert on the field and see how much they learn) and went upstairs. I come back down and he has basically nit-picked the whole essay and given me an shitload of stuff to do which is completely unnecessary, its absolutely ridiculous the extent he's gone to to get me more stuff to do.

With coursework, why do people wait until the final deadline to give you the most editing to do to it? Why can't one person just do it all in one go and then you can be done with the whole coursework and it won't be stressing you out like it has done with me for the last few months. If i dont get the A i was marked after the first draft i will be seriously annoyed at the first teacher!

British Politics

by IgorAkineev @ 01. May 2008 - 12:12:47 am

So yesterday had a run-in with my parents over.. politics. This has never before happened, and it was a very strange experience.

Basically mum went off on a rant at how much she hates Gordon Brown, she blames him for everything, and just went off on one about all the gold reserves he sold, something about an EU referendum he promised but never delivered, economic recession, northern rock, pensions etc. etc. and i disagreed with her.
She then started going on about how great David Cameron was? I wasn't going to stand for this, i hate the man!

"Ooh, mum, you're so anti-establishment" was how i started. I dont see how Northern Rock was Brown's fault at all, that was down to their incompetent management and he has done alright in a tricky situation in my opinion. The economic recession? I don't think its down to him, its down to overlending and a crash in the US housing market also due to overspending which is starting to effect consumer confidence, and also ever rising oil prices due to the new increasing demands of Asia (Mainly China and India.) I do economics and they are what we would call, "External Shocks", something brown has no control over. Lost data discs? How anyone can pin them on him is beyond me. The "promised in manifesto" EU referendum simply shouldn't have been promised, it was unrealistic and referendums aren't good for politics. What do people elect for if the public (who do make bad decisions) are asked to decide issues like this.. Pensions can't be excused, but shit happens and i bet Cameron would have done something much worse. At the end of the day Gordon's not doing too bad in my opinion, and i can't believe how fickle people are, around the time of the flaming jeep in Glasgow people were singing his praises and now everyone's turned on him.. disgraceful. You don't get divorced if you're going through a bad patch.

David Cameron? Absolute moron who will never be getting a vote from me. He jumped on the green enviromental band wagon and took it to a ridiculous extent. At the end of the day, if i want to ride a plane on holiday, i will, if its peeing down and i dont fancy riding damp, leaky, overpriced public transport i will drive in my 4x4 and simply pay the extra.. thats just the way it is and no matter how much he preaches it won't change. He's a huge hypocrite anyway, chartering a private jet to raise enviromental awareness by visiting Greenland or where-ever it was, riding to work on a bike with a car following containing his briefcases. By the way, he also doesn't know the highway code and drives said bicycle, not very well to say the least.
His comments on black music earlier this year are unforgivable, he cited it as a main cause behind gun crime and nearly caused a race war in doing so. He is a slimy, eton creep who has surrounded himself with old school pals because he can't let go. He's a snob who's videoblog was just embaressing for the whole nation, "I'm Dave, im young, hip, and just like you!" whilst washing the dishes.. makes me sick.
Its so easy for him at the moment, he is simply criticising Brown's every move because the media are turning against him, which also means he is never short of ammunition. But in doing so he has been unbelievably vague about what he would do himself. I watched an interview the other day and he said to solve the problem of NHS and other areas' underfunding he would slash MP expenses. But what is that? Its a tiny sum in the greater scheme of things and worth very little. That was the only clear policy he stated, so why should he get put in as PM? I hate the guy!

I miss Tony Blair! He was so under-rated, like Ryan Giggs.
There's a funny video of a little girl on youtube crying for Tony Blair to come back you should take a look at aswell haha.
