My Return

by IgorAkineev @ 30. Mar 2008 - 05:20:00 pm

I came back from Yorkshire yesterday and within 2 hours i'd got the train into Manchester to meet up with friends. Was really good seeing everyone, had a day out and then ended up making a night of it in town later on.
It was really good catching up with people, because i'd had no contact with any of them for at least a week and i'd missed quite a lot. It was nice to know people had missed me aswell, gave me a massive boost. The night out was good, and then i stayed at a friends and had work today which was surprisingly the best shift i've done since i joined even though i was feeling the effects.
For the first 3 hours i was on fire but then towards the end there was this spell of about 20 mins when i was on till where basically everything that could have gone wrong did, with not accepting credit cards, unhelpful customers and the till playing up, was an absolute nightmare.
My theorys on Tuesday so tonight and tomorrow are saved for looking through the highway code and cramming it all in. Anyone thats recently done theirs, how much work do you need to/should do for it? Any information would be really helpful.

I also bought the Foals album, Antidotes. Its been advertised everywhere recently, which actually prompted me to buy it whereas normally i might have just downloaded it (normally i'm not so impressionable). Its at my friends house though so i haven't been able to listen to it yet but i love their early singles so am quite looking forward to it.

I would also highly reccomend the We Are Scientists album, Brain. Thrust. Mastery and The Kooks's, Konk. Downloaded both while i was away and they're both really good. And The Whip's aswell is worth a listen.

Flight Of The Conchords

The funniest show i have seen in a long time.

Basically these 2 New Zealander musicians (based in NY) are like a double act, inseperable, and the way they interact is hilarious, one of them in his new zealander monotone accent has these one liners, and he always looks concerned or upset.. so funny.. They break into song at various points in each episode and the songs are so funny and clever. Storylines good aswell.
I dont know if its on TV in the UK, i got the series DVD after a friends reccomendation, but its so good.
Like The Mighty Boosh but more normal and better written. Dont get me wrong, i love the boosh but a lot of it relies on Noel Fielding being so psychadelic and surreal to watch. I would really reccomend it.

The episode i'm watching now, one of the guys gets a girlfriend called Coco, and the other feels like she's splitting up the band so calls her Yoko. Hilarious. But he still insists on going on all of their dates because he cant deal with it.. basically its a great show, dead laugh out loud.

Watch It!

Im Back!

So its been.. about 6 months.

I have left this page unattended for absolutely ages.. and by looking now, i never realised what a long time 6 months is. So much has changed in my life since i last wrote.
For starters, i have a job, and have done for the last 6 months. The day after my last post i got hired on the spot after a minor interview, and i actually am considering leaving in the next few weeks.
I met a girl aswell, at my job. She's the year above me and we actually clicked even on my second day we were talking like we'd known eachother for years. We had a thing and still do kind of, even though she's dating some guy at her college (a large sufferer of small-man syndrome) which she refuses to talk about to others whenever i'm there, but dishes the dirt later when we're alone.. good times.
I had my birthday, i'm now 17, i got a message from admin advising me to post on what my big day was like. Erm, rubbish. I was working, had a party at mine which wasn't the best really, a big disappointment. My friends just don't party anymore!
I've started driving, have my theory booked for next week.. and i've already had my first crash! Me and my dad pulled out onto a t-junction, i was driving and had my L-Plates on, and out of nowhere this old couple in a speeding VW Polo clipped our nose. I braked, and there wasn't a scratch on our car apart from the numberplate snapped in half, but their whole left side was a proper mess. Anyway, my dad wasn't going to contest who's fault it was with this guy, and as he wasn't fully aware of it until it happened and it was to be my word against the older man and i've not even passed he told the insurance company it was our fault and so he lost his no-claims. Unlucky!
I've just seen a picture of the world's largest rabbit. Four foot long, 3 1/2 stone! wow!
Anyway, im currently on a weeks holiday to Yorkshire, Leyburn to be exact, to get away and help me get some schoolwork done, so as mum is hassling me already i'd better try and get my head down.

I had a comment while i was away asking about the origins of "Igor Akineev." Well, basically i don't feel comfortable having my real name labeled on the internet, and an eastern European alter ego sounded good at the time. Its based on a CSKA Moscow and Russian International Goalkeeper, Igor Akinfeev, just without an "F."
