I was lay awake in bed last night when i realised why i actually picked up that bass guitair yesterday.
I'd been watching the V Festival highlights with my mum and dad on BBC 3 and after they left i switched over from Patrick Wolf to Interpol. Now I'd had friends who were massive Interpol fans, but I'd never really got on the bandwagon. I couldnt remember if i'd ever actually listened to them before the other night, but they were brilliant. Pioneer To The Falls was fantastic, and when i looked i actually had it on my I-pod.
I suppose they drew me in because that song is so.. mysterious, with the piano part, and from watching on tv, Carlos D (bassist) looked effortlessly cool.
It must have been a subconscious thing that made me pick up the bass guitair, "I'd love to look as cool as that" or something similar.
Either way, i'm happy it happened.
I browsed the internet for tabs last night, and can play the whole of "Old Yellow Bricks" by the Arctic Monkeys now, and realised that i was playing "Balaclava" much slower than it actually is, so i need to improve that. The start of "Confusion" by The Zutons is easy..
I also have a new plan of action, get better at the bass before splashing out on a basic electric guitair to give myself a bit of a headstart! I'd love to be good on electric guitair.
Im downloading both Interpol albums as we speak, the singers a bit similar to the guy from REM i think.. haha!
