On Sunday i went to a fundraising carwash for a rugby tour to South America I'm going on in summer 2008. Its going to be amazing, and the more money we raise, the more cool stuff we'll be able to get, so i had no qualms about going. Myself, and 5 other of my best friends from the team went, and then 2 other guys. It was such a poor turnout. I dont see why less than half of the people going on the team should turn up whilst everyone else gets to stay home. We're all going on the tour, and £130 really doesnt go far to a rugby tour for 30 people, and yet that was what we got for all day.
We really could have earnt a lot more, we didnt have any hoses, so had to use buckets and sponges, and we were working solidly. The main fundraisers will be bagpacking at Tesco over several days at Christmas, and an auction night in November. Everyone donates things for it, and the get bid on, and all the money goes towards the tour. My mum and dad donated a meal at a nice restaurant for 2, and some champagne, while other people have donated golf clubs or something from their line of business. Im speaking to Cris, and he says there's not a lot of enthusiasm still!! Its everyones tour, why are only some people grafting to get money for it??!!
DO YOU NOT CARE??!!!
We'll see how they like it when we're all in a single room mud hut as some people didnt fundraise so we couldnt get a hotel.
That very night i went to a pub quiz, hoping to win the cash prize. I actually would have donated it to the tour i was so displeased with the turnout. It, however, wasnt to be. The questions were all impossible for a boy of 16, and we came last by a clear 30 points with a measley 16/80. Shocking. Was a laugh though.
I've come to the conclusion that with the smoking ban now enforced it will be a lot easier for me to go to pubs, and they will be less likely to ID as they need the trade. This aside, i am all for the smoking ban as i am a none-smoker and a barstaffing friend always complains to me that people blow it in her face, so im glad it will stop. Niall tells me that his dad (pub chain owner) says that pubs will now stink of stale beer and sweat, as the cig smell covers these nasty odours, so most pubs wont be very pleasent.
Yesterday i slept and lounged, and watched crimewatch for the first time in years. I still find it a bit of a creepy programme, a lot of the stuff on it is from the Manchester area.. very unnerving.
Today i went on the bike ride i had planned. To Arley Hall and back from my house. 16 miles in 90 minutes. I'm quite pleased with myself, and do feel a lot better. Like they were saying on Loose Women with Colin Jackson (the now retired UK gold winning olympic sprinter, who was once suicidal) exercise is addictive!
I do feel good. Yay!
