Abersoch

by IgorAkineev @ 26. Jul 2007 - 08:01:13 pm

I have been in Abersoch for the past week and had the time of my life with friends. It surpassed all expectations, i laughed in the last week more than i have done in the last year, it was brilliant. Nights were spent on the beach, meeting new people and making fires, until wardens would come and put them out.
We stayed at a friends holiday home, in an incredible location, 2 minutes from the abersoch beach and right near to the center of Abersoch village. He had a speedboat, and a doughnut ring which we spent many hours on. His mum was literally the safest woman i've ever met, she's seperated from her husband and she was so leniant, shes a fantastic lady so we got her gifts at the end of the week as a thankyou. We played football and sports on the beach in the day or just lounged. It rained so we watched The Break Up (Jennifer Anniston and Vince Vaughan) with a load of girls our friend knew, and it was hilarious. Here is the best bit:

That scene was hilarious.

We were in Abersoch for the Wakestock festival, the "Largest Wakeboarding Music Festival In Europe" The lineup was rubbish, but everyone was going.. it wasnt for the music. We had weekend tickets and everyone else was camping. We all got reallyy drunk off whatever we could get our hands on and just had a really wild night. I saw Mark Ronson, who was fantastic, and then was so drunk that i basically just walked through security into the camping area that i was really meant to pay £30 extra for. I met up with some friends and they took me to the campsite and i slept in an empty tent that was leaking without a sleeping bag or anything.
In the morning i found out the rest of the festival had been cancelled due to the weather. The rest of the country was flooded, so half of the acts couldnt get there.. poor. The walkway from the carpark to the festival site had also been washed away, and the site was inaccesible to emergency vehicles so it was all health and safety. Im still not sure if we get a refund.
In the end i had an amazing time, we stayed until Tuesday whereas everyone else went straight home and thought it was awful. We weren't the only ones who stayed and made the best of the situation, the night after on the beach was wild, there were 30 ft explosions due to people putting gas cylinders on fires, very dangerous but good to watch. I was glad that the festival was cancelled in the end as i dont know how i would have coped if Saturday had been as hardcore as friday night.
Abersoch is brilliant anyways, and i only spent £100 in the week and still had an awesome time. Thats good considering how overpriced everything is. There were some serious rich posh kids there, but the majority were from the mighty Manchester.
We had one song on repeat for the whole time, Torn On The Platform by Jack Penate. Now whenever i hear that song i'll be reminded of happy times.

We came home and i had a free house, until tomorow, with no food.I had to go to the cashpoint and supermarket, and ended up having a party the next night.. it was good but there wasnt much respect for my house which i didnt appreciate. Mum knows and she took it quite well actually, there were only minor breakages and i didnt tell her completely the full story so she wasnt too upset, she was more bothered that her alcohol cupboard got raided.. i've been cleaning all day and now the house is basically spotless. I just need to put valuable stuff back in its place, and you would never know what went on.
I actually cant wait to see my mum and dad, i havent seen them in 9 days, which is the longest i've ever had, and like with Glastonbury i missed them much more than i thought.

In other news, the apple tree in my back garden has fallen over, but i am leaving it until dad gets back and he decides what to do with it.

Summer has well and truly began in the last 10 days or so!

Weddings & Parties

by IgorAkineev @ 16. Jul 2007 - 12:27:34 am

The weekend took me up to Edinburgh for the wedding of my cousin, MF and her fiancee of close to a year, Andy.
I'd been to a wedding before, but was too young to really remember it. My grandparents didnt attend because my grandma broke down when she realised she was going, it was all a bit overwhelming, she's very old and is losing her sight and hearing and is starting to get confused so maybe it was the right thing to happen. Its still upsetting watching the rapid deterioration of an elderley loved one. She really was a charachter (sp?) in the day, i can remember, but now all of that seems to have gone and she is merely the shell of the person she once was.
The wedding wasnt in a church, it was at The Royal Scots Club, which was a fantastic venue. We were staying there, and its meant to be for all the old war veterans , so there were some ridiculously strict dress codes for meals and other things, which was offputting, and the showergel there made me smell like an old man.
The ceremony was around 20 minutes and it was brilliant, the celebrations afterwards were good aswell, and it was a brilliant day, it made me want to get married! ha!
I only found afterwards that the whole thing was on friday the 13th, which isnt really very good for the superstitious, but the 13th is really lucky for the couple. They were both born on the 13th, Andy proposed on the 13th, and they first met on the 13th so it was really quite sentimental for them.

I got the train back to Manchester with the new bride and groom. Theyre flying to Mauritius i think on Monday from the airport, and i decided to come back for a party as i would have just been doing nothing really had i stayed.
The deciding factor was a bouncy castle that had been hired for the evening. If that hadnt been there i probably wouldnt have gone!

The party was ok, i met some new people but lost my ipod for the evening. The bouncy castle somehow got ripped, and a friend of mine was a complete idiot and crashed the host's electric scooter, breaking that. It was an accident waiting to happen. The same friend really wasnt very nice all night. He's horrible after drink, loses all of his charm haha.. he punched me for laughing slightly at his expense, when basically all he does is put people down. Im not bothered, because he was the only one who got shown badly by it, nothing less than they deserved for being such a baby.
People are becoming irritable by his general attitude in the group, so he'll get sorted out eventually.. it needs to happen.

Parents returned at 1, and despite telling us that we could stay, they then said at quarter past we all had to be gone by 1.30 or the police would be called. There was hardly any damage, which wasnt bad at all considering the amount of people. It was a huge overreaction on their part, and its not like they couldnt afford to lose the deposit on the bouncy castle (Which i know doesnt make it OK!) There was a group of around 10 of us who then had nowhere to go as we couldnt go home without parents going mad asking why we hadnt stayed. It wasnt our fault and no-one could be bothered dealing with parents so we did an all nighter on a bowling green.
It was alright, could have been a lot worse. I got a bit of sleep on a bench.. lovely. It was really, REALLY cold, made worse by me wearing shorts!
In conclusion, the party was good, i spent basically all night on top of the bouncy castle, and it was made memorable by the ending and all nighter.

I have finally downloaded both Gogol Bordello albums after seeing their brilliant Glastonbury set, and both are fantastic.

I also got The Enemy's new album, "We'll Live And Die In These Towns" which is a lot better than i expected considering how utterly shite they were at Glastonbury.

On Wednesday i go to Abersoch until Tuesday, and will be seeing The Enemy again at Wakestock.. gutted! Abersoch will be good though, i havent been but everyone is going so it will be good. I also have some ID for the week.

Going Missing For A While..

by IgorAkineev @ 11. Jul 2007 - 03:20:31 pm

I've got, nothing else to lose.

I hate Maximo Park! Today is my last day before i depart for Scotland for my older cousins wedding! She's getting married very young, but im all for it, her fiancee is really nice.
Im missing until Sunday.. but i am missing a lot. Like two parties! One with a bouncy castle! Damn.

All of my family will be at this wedding, and it is sure to be a great occasion and i really cannot wait. My suit is all ready, it will be fantastic.

Until Sunday!

My Weekend - Fevers and Sports

by IgorAkineev @ 09. Jul 2007 - 02:17:41 pm

I haven't had the best of times. I became ill on around Wednesday, with just a sore throat so i soldiered on, but by friday it had turned worse, into a full on fever!
Sweating, disgusting coughs, headaches, i felt awful.

So the weekend was spent on the sofa, playing grand theft auto or watching sports, i just had to wait it out.
I am now a fan of wheelchair tennis, that was great to watch, and the tour de france leg to Canterbury was brilliant aswell. Fantastic ending, the guy (i forget his name) did so well to recover and come first after his crash and being so far behind. I also had no idea that cycling was such a team sport, there were the team doing all the work for 190km of the race, allowing their sprinter to slipstream for the whole thing. They would protect him from doing anything. He would then sprint off in the last 300m or so, and do his best to win the race. It was very complex, i thought it was just a slog for everyone and the best man wins.
They were travelling oh so quickly too, at 30mph in places! Normally if me and my dad go out we're at around 12mph, and thats tiring enough!!
The crowds were fantastic, and i now think that the Olympics will be a huge success in London too.

I watched Cabin Fever last night, which, for a horror film was very good. Entertaining anyway.

I am starting to do some weights and go to the gym and etc. hopefully as i have a wedding in Scotland next week, which im looking forward to very much.

I also found this on the internet, brilliant band, brilliant song.
BRILLIANT CLOWN COSTUMES!

Car Washing + Today

by IgorAkineev @ 03. Jul 2007 - 11:30:58 pm

On Sunday i went to a fundraising carwash for a rugby tour to South America I'm going on in summer 2008. Its going to be amazing, and the more money we raise, the more cool stuff we'll be able to get, so i had no qualms about going. Myself, and 5 other of my best friends from the team went, and then 2 other guys. It was such a poor turnout. I dont see why less than half of the people going on the team should turn up whilst everyone else gets to stay home. We're all going on the tour, and £130 really doesnt go far to a rugby tour for 30 people, and yet that was what we got for all day.
We really could have earnt a lot more, we didnt have any hoses, so had to use buckets and sponges, and we were working solidly. The main fundraisers will be bagpacking at Tesco over several days at Christmas, and an auction night in November. Everyone donates things for it, and the get bid on, and all the money goes towards the tour. My mum and dad donated a meal at a nice restaurant for 2, and some champagne, while other people have donated golf clubs or something from their line of business. Im speaking to Cris, and he says there's not a lot of enthusiasm still!! Its everyones tour, why are only some people grafting to get money for it??!!
DO YOU NOT CARE??!!!
We'll see how they like it when we're all in a single room mud hut as some people didnt fundraise so we couldnt get a hotel.

That very night i went to a pub quiz, hoping to win the cash prize. I actually would have donated it to the tour i was so displeased with the turnout. It, however, wasnt to be. The questions were all impossible for a boy of 16, and we came last by a clear 30 points with a measley 16/80. Shocking. Was a laugh though.
I've come to the conclusion that with the smoking ban now enforced it will be a lot easier for me to go to pubs, and they will be less likely to ID as they need the trade. This aside, i am all for the smoking ban as i am a none-smoker and a barstaffing friend always complains to me that people blow it in her face, so im glad it will stop. Niall tells me that his dad (pub chain owner) says that pubs will now stink of stale beer and sweat, as the cig smell covers these nasty odours, so most pubs wont be very pleasent.

Yesterday i slept and lounged, and watched crimewatch for the first time in years. I still find it a bit of a creepy programme, a lot of the stuff on it is from the Manchester area.. very unnerving.

Today i went on the bike ride i had planned. To Arley Hall and back from my house. 16 miles in 90 minutes. I'm quite pleased with myself, and do feel a lot better. Like they were saying on Loose Women with Colin Jackson (the now retired UK gold winning olympic sprinter, who was once suicidal) exercise is addictive!
I do feel good. Yay!
